Character(s): Serah and Mia
Location: Mia's office, after hours
Rating: G
Open/Closed/Finished: Closed
Summary: Backdated to about a week after Serah's arrival. After realizing that Serah and Snow do indeed have the same pendant, Mia asked Serah to meet her to confirm a few things--and learns of Serah's engagement to Snow in the process.
Perhaps it was a bad idea to invite Serah when she technically hadn't done anything. After all, it set a bad precedent, didn't it? But Mia couldn't think of another way to talk to Serah alone about this matter. The pendants themselves were trivial, but Serah and Snow were from the same world, so Mia figured it'd be interesting to hear about his world from her perspective.
... That, and maybe she'd actually know another student next Quarter if Serah ended up in her class. Freshly preparing a batch of tea for them to share, Mia'd bended over backwards to ensure that tonight would at least be pleasant--or start out pleasant. There were all kinds of cookies with the tea; Charley'd been freshly watered; and she'd cleaned up the stacks and stacks of books (and paperwork!) just for Serah.
Mia took a breath and attempted to relax. It failed. Tucking some hair behind her ear, she mused, "I'm sure everything'll turn out alright. It has to."

Honestly she was a little curious about what Mia wanted to see her about, but at the same time she'd enjoyed their tour of the facility so she was looking forward to spending more time with the older woman.
Knocking on the door, she poked her head in curiously before walking into the room. "What's going to turn out alright? Are you working on something for a class?"

Honestly, Mia was just feeling nervous - which was weird for her, she hadn't felt nervous in a while - about the whole thing. Once she got a conversation rolling, she knew she'd get over it pretty quickly. "So I'm hoping I'll get him to stay awake for a whole class period without him landing ten detentions in the process," she laughed, knowing pretty well that she honestly wasn't thinking about Zuko and storytime. "But enough about me. What've you been up to?"

It helps that Serah's about as threatening as a wet noodle normally. "Does he get detention often then?" She's kind of confused by all this, but if Mia says it then it must be true. "I've had a lot of work to catch up on since I missed several weeks of the current classes. It's kept me really busy."

She shook her head, "The threat's usually enough to keep him awake. I think, out of all the times we've had class, I've only given it to him once." Admittedly, she did think he was a good kid, if not a little weird at times. Okay, and maybe he could afford to actually listen to her stories once in a while. "If you need help with International Law..."
It wasn't the real reason Mia asked her to come, but it was as good of a starting off point as any other. "Let me know, alright? I wouldn't mind staying after class to help you out."

"I'm sure he's not falling asleep on purpose. Your stories are actually a lot of fun to listen to." A little weird at time is a descriptor that could probably describe just about everyone at the school admittedly.
"It's going to take me a little bit to catch up, but I think I'll be alright. If there's ever something I don't understand, I'll send you a message thanks!" She's still not sure just why Mia has invited her, but she's not about to push just yet. There's clearly plenty on Mia's mind and it's obvious that he'll get around to talking about whatever it is when she's ready.

At this point, Mia gestured towards the tea. "Would you like some tea? Or cookies, perhaps?" She paused for a moment, gathering her words before she softly added, "I'm sorry I didn't tell you earlier, but I actually asked you to come because I heard that you and Instructor Villiers were from the same world. And as awkward as this sounds, I don't... know very much about his world despite his stories."
Still, not the real reason, but she'd wrapped it up in the truth. She did want to know more about Cocoon and Pulse and everything about them. "Is it common for people to know how to fight there?"
