Summary: An excitable boy discovers everything new and glorious.


He hadn't quite understood what everything meant, but that hardly mattered when presented with all the new sights and sounds. Ginji ran back and forth like a child on Christmas; his eyes were wide and filled with awe, mouth agape and overflowing with 'oohs', 'wow!' and other little sounds of wonderment. Compared to Japan, everything seemed so different but exciting. In contrast to the spiraling towers, densely packed buildings and dirty streets of lower Mugenjou, it just seemed alien.

Nevertheless, every structure was given a curious touch, no bench was left empty--for as long as his patience could hold up, at least, and every passerby received a mirthful (and loud) greeting.

Among the other sights and sounds, a pastel pony trotted cheerfully around the lobby's walkway, apparently quite pleased with herself and life in general to judge by her expression.

That's right. A PONY.

He was just about to examine one of the shiny, tall trash cans when a bright color flashed from the corner of his eye. He craned his neck to give whatever it was a casual glance and ended up whirling on his heels.

Not even a few moments passed before he was beside said pony, eyes burning with excitement.

"Ahhh...! A pony! A blue one! And it's so life-like, too!"

She stopped, her pleased look fading into one of bemused annoyance as she turned to look at him. "That's because I AM alive."

"Whoooa, advanced A.I, too?" Ginji crooned. "I haven't seen anything like that outside of Mugenjou. What's your name? I'm Ginji!"

"My name's Rainbow Dash. And I'm not from Mug--- wherever, I'm from Equestria." She had totally missed the implication that she was really just an advanced robot, there... "You're new here, I'm guessing."

This particular bench was already occupied, and its occupant was less than thrilled about the intruder. So what if he didn't quite take up the entire length of the bench when lying down? That wasn't an invitation! Someone was trying to sleep here!

He opened his eyes, and immediately did a double take... but no, nobody he knew. Not even similar-looking, really.

Although it wasn't strictly necessary, he sat up and shuffled back a little to give the stranger some room. Then he reached down for the book he'd been reading before he dozed off. Hopefully this person could take a hint and not bother him too much.

There was a hint to get? Ginji wasn't even entertaining the idea that someone would not want company at any given time. The fact that this boy had not only awoken at his presence but also graciously moved over and given him a wider sitting area clearly meant that it was an offer to converse.

"Hello!" the man cheerily exclaimed. "I'm new here!"

But - but he had a book! Right there in his hand. If that wasn't a universal Do Not Disturb sign, Ed didn't know what was. (And since Ed not knowing something would have been absurd, the problem was clearly on this guy's end.)

He glared up at the man - a fair distance up, actually, which didn't make him feel any better - and muttered, "You seem pretty happy about it."

That book was obviously only being used when there was no one around to talk to. But he was here now, so the book didn't need to be used! Logic.

That particular logic is why he was so baffled at the look he was currently receiving. Maybe he was just having a bad day? In which case, that wouldn't do.

Even with the glare, Ginji kept smiling. "Yep! I haven't ever gone to school before, so this is exciting for me."

Nope, this level of grumpiness was Ed on a good day. At least, it had been pretty nice before the interruption. "Good for you," he said. "It'll wear off."

Since the last hint hadn't worked, maybe he needed something more blatant... He looked back down at his book and started to make a show of flicking through its pages. The effect was slightly cheapened by his intermittent glances upwards to check whether the annoyingly cheerful stranger was still there.

Pinkie Pie, while bouncing on her pogo stick, watched this odd, excited person rush all around Garden. So what did she do?

Follow him!

Obviously something exciting must be happening, and Pinkie wanted to be there for when it did!

If you call being on all fours and smelling the carefully planted flowers exciting, then sure it was!

Ginji barely registered the distinctive noise the pogo stick made as it collided with the pavement, as involved as he was in his examination. He did seem to be heatedly talking, though. Whether it was to the flowers or his own self, wasn't readily apparent.

"HELLLLOOOOOO DOWN THEEERRRRRRRRRE!" Pinkie called out to the other, still bouncing around. "Whacha sniffing?"

He both jumped in fright and attempted to whirl around to see where the shout had come from, which only caused his abrupt fall into the patch of flowers.

"Ow, ow," the boy complained while rubbing his thigh. He immediately flashed a rather embarrassed smile at the bouncing girl and brushed some of the dirt from his leg.

"Sniffing the flowers! They're very nice looking, here."

"This whole place is a garden, you know! Just sniff up here!"

Pinkie took in a deep breath, and exhaled with a sigh of content. "Usually Garden smells like baked goods, but I think today it's full of fresh flowery scents!"

During one his exploration of the Garden, Ginji might notice a different kind of girl sitting on one of the benches near the Quad. She's wearing a white hoodie with the crest for their Garden and a knee length skirt. Poking out of the hood are two very long, wine colored ponytails that cascade down her front.

A small gust of wind blows the cowl back and he can notice that she's also a light green color and her mouth is adorned with two small tusks at the edges. Her bright, teal colored eyes gaze around the quad a bit timidly as she continues doing some of her homework in peace.

He'd seen some really strange people while on his little journey around this place, but she was definitely one of the stranger ones. Was it make up? Was she part of a play? Or cosplaying? He wasn't completely sure.

His curiosity was quickly overriding the fact that she seemed busy working, though. But when had something like that stopped him, anyways?

It didn't take him long to close the distance between them, and when he had, he was crouching in front of the girl so they'd be at eye level.

"Hi!"

"Eeep!" she squeaked in surprise as she stumbled back and fell off the bench. Her face reddened quickly and she looked terribly embarrassed.

Where had he even popped up from? Had she been so involved in her homework that she failed to notice him? She'd need to work on that, can't have people sneaking up on her like this.

After a bit, she finally looked over, while still hiding her face partially behind one of her bangs. "H-hi..."

Huh? Well...he guessed he would be surprised if someone just appeared, too. Still, he could barely hear her from where she was.

"Um..." he hummed out, leaning to the side as if he could see around her bangs that easily. "I'm Ginji! Wha--who are you?"

First he sneaks up on her, scares her and then just asks who she was? Okay, so she had seen stranger but still...

Ronnae slowly got up and wiped her skirt clean, still looking away from the stranger called Ginji...

"H-hi... Ginji?" she began in her timid voice before giving a quick bow. "I... I'm R-Ronnae.... Ronnae 'Mash Belore Ryllos..."

Raidou was quietly sweeping his way through the Garden, making note of the strangely organic architecture, composed of graceful arches and curves. Not much like the combination of western and eastern architecture that made up the Capital, but perhaps that was to be expected.

He nodded politely in greeting to each person who passed by, but Ginji in particular seemed to stick out of the crowd. Raidou tipped his cap in greeting. "Enjoying yourself?"

Ginji raised a hand to return the greeting and bobbed his head in response to Raidou's question.

"This place is really great! Everything is huge, and so well made and expensive looking! I've been very, very careful to avoid breaking anything." Because with the money he and Ban made, he'd never be able to pay for repairs on anything.

"It is, isn't it? I wonder how many resources went into building this one school." Probably enough to support a small country, what with all the trappings, landscaping, amenities, and equipment.

"And I'm sure the groundskeepers would appreciate the effort. Are you new here?"

He hummed in agreement as his eyes darted back and forth around the courtyard, finally settling on this new stranger.

"I am new! I'm Ginji," he said, flashing a bright grin. "Nice to meet you!"

Raidou smiled in return. "Raidou. Nice to meet you. I'm new here as well."

He held out a hand for Ginji to shake -- it seemed more common here than bowing did. "It's certainly a change of pace from my last residence. So... modern."
