and your Durarararararararararara cast has arrived.
Character(s): Shinra and Celty
Location: Around the Garden
Rating: G
Open/Closed/Finished: Finished.
Summary: Just the new arrivals getting situated.
The school was larger than Shinra expected, the architecture completely different from anything someone could even hope to find in Ikebukuro. Or even in Ireland, Shinra suspected. His eyes were alight, reflecting outline of the Garden as he skipped ahead of his companion to gaze up at vision of it.
"Celty, do you see it?" he called out to her, motioning him after him. "This truly is an entirely different world from ours! Look at the detailing on the spires! And that canopy! It looks like a halo! How do you think it's suspended?"
He beamed at her, fairly thrilled to be on this adventure with her. They were away from Ikebukuro, from the demands of the city, from the meddling of his father. They could try a different kind of life for a little while, at least until they found a way back. And they would. They couldn't divorce themselves from that city forever, but just for the time being, maybe this could be okay.
"What do you think?"
The smile he gave her was hopeful.

He only continued to smile at her, but then tilted his head a little at the smoke seeping out from her helmet. Hhe brought his hand to the corner of his glasses to adjust them before he leaned in, casually glancing around them to make sure their surroundings were vacant of people. Then he flipped up her visor to get a better look at her smoke, hand coming to rest against his chin.
"Is everything alright, Celty? You seem a little overwhelmed..."

Had it been anyone else, she would have felt nothing, but with Shinra, somehow, it was different. Maybe he was right; maybe she was becoming more human after all...
She pulled her cell up again, wondering at time why she ever bothered to put it away at all. Her quick, nimble fingers moving over the keys meaningfully before stopping cold, her helmet tipping up to catch Shinra's eyes as his fingers worked her visor open, a cloud of smoke billowing out and towards him. Her shoulders shot up as she instinctual cringed to herself, feeling a bit vulnerable having not opened it herself nor invited it. 20 years or not-- engaged or not-- these kind of things were delicate. She squeezed her fingers together and jabbed at his abdomen, aiming to hit his solar-plexus rather sharply twice. She twisted her neck away from him and closed the thick, sun-blocking, reflective cover, knowing he had caught her embarrassed 'face' yet again. She huffed a bit, her shoulders finally settling and falling below her breast bone as she typed a message rapidly, working to give her message a slight bite. She turned the phone to face him while she remained facing away.
"Don't open it so forthrightly, Shinra."
Sure no one was around but it was just the principle of the thing. Though his concern for her was admittedly a bit endearing.

"Ah! I'm sorry, Celty!" he choked out as he reeled away from her as quickly as he could, arms raised defensively out of reflex since violence usually followed these sort of slips. "I really lost my balance, I swear! I won't do it again!"
no subject
She leaned down and picked up the phone, examining it for damage, once again relieved with her good luck when it came to keeping her phones alive despite abuse. Checking it for damage again, she tested out the typing mechanism and flashed the message to him, obviously a bit annoyed.
"Whatever. Where are we headed?"
She couldn't stop the black wisps from coming out of her headgear, despite herself.

"It looks like the Garden's interior architecture is also circular, so we'll wind up back here if we just pick a direction to walk... Oh!" Shinra adjusted his glasses as he caught sight of something that interested him, all but pressing his nose up against the part of the sign that read 'infirmary'. "Shall we start in this direction~?"
no subject
"I have no preference either way since it is a circle, after all." And with that, she flicked her communication device back into her cuff. She paused, still keeping pace with him as she moved in his shadow, the darkness suiting her. Soon enough, though, she slid her phone out again, moving to be by Shinra's side, showing him the message. "Why this way, anyway?"
no subject
"The other way was the library. I think the quad's also in this direction? I'm interested in seeing the quad with you too, Celty! It would be a good place for us to spend our free time. I think you'd like that kind of place."
Having seen the rest of the architecture and decor gave Shinra high hopes for the quad.

'infirmary?' She suddenly felt unnerved, imagining the look of the inside of the room. Bright lights beating down so harshly from the ceiling, the cold and stinging feel of the steel table, the sound and awkward feeling of latex gloves on one's skin... Scalpels...
She abruptly shuddered hard, shaking her helmet left to right as if throwing a thought from her head. 'Rather not think about that...'
She tossed her phone up into her palm and thumbed in "the quad," inquisitively, wondering what it had to offer that would inspire them to spend their free-time in it. "What's there?"
no subject
"It's okay if you don't want to go in, Celty. You can wait for me here? I just want to see what kind of medical facilities they have, and how far along they are in terms of medical science. It won't take me more than a few minutes. After that we can go to the quad," he promised, trying to reassure her. He had only been four at the time, and he hadn't known any better but to do as his father said, but... He still felt badly for that time in both their lives.
"And oh! The quad is... Well, how to put it... It's like a courtyard on most campuses. Often there's some greenery, places to sit and such. At the university I attended, the quad was always my favorite place to study when the weather was nice."
no subject
"I will wait here. Don't worry about me. Go on and do what you need to do."
The quad sounded nice assuming it actually had vegetation. Celty had to admit that she did miss the beautiful nature of Ireland--what she remember of it anyway-- for the peace and serenity that it provided. It was something unobtainable in Tokyo.
"Greenery? Understood. I will wait here and then we will go." She moved over to the wall and leaned against it, arms crossed over her chest.
no subject
"All done! I hope I didn't keep you waiting too long."
no subject
She opened her phones note pad and began typing it in. 'Home Ec... make delicious food for--' and then suddenly Shinra emerged from the infirmary, causing Celty to abandon the message and slip her phone into her sleeve hastily.
She flipped around to face him and waved her hands in front of her; she hadn't really been kept waiting for very long. She noticed the twinkle in his eye-- how typical of Shinra to fanboy over something as simple as an exam room. Then again, she was also the one who was too afraid to go into said room, so she was in no real position to talk either.
"No, it was no problem. How was it?" She tilted her head to the side and then tapped her phone again. "Shall we go then?" And she moved to stand next to him.
no subject
...the reverse wasn't exactly true, which Shinra off and on felt guilty for, but he only did was was necessary to protect them. She was more his family than anyone else in this life, and one thing Shinra had developed which he hadn't inherited from his father was a strong sense of commitment to his family. He would protect what they had to whatever ends.
"Ah, here we are!" he exclaimed as they reached the quad, skipping on ahead to do a little spin as the walls gave away to open air. "Ahhh, this is every bit as nice as I imagined! Look, Celty! There's running water!"
no subject
She looked around the corner as they rounded it, sunlight reflecting off of her visor and creating dazzling patterns on the walls around them in the entrance. She stood in awe at the beauty contained in the space before them, understanding why Shinra had proposed they spend time there after school. She walked forward behind the skipping and overly-enthused Japanese doctor, pausing for a moment to raise her hand up to her visor, her shoulders twitching once as she laughed silently to herself.
"Ah, this really is nice, Shinra."
no subject
"I'm glad you like it. Do you want to... stay here for a little while before we go find the dorms?"
no subject
She glanced back at Shinra, flicking the water off of her hand onto the ground as she moved over to approach him. She nodded a few times and moved towards a tree nearby and sat down, leaving a fair amount of room next to her open..
'This is nice. The sun is shining, the wind is so gentle, and I am here with him. No strife, no chaos. I could get used to this,' Celty though as she leaned back against the tree, waiting for her fiance expectantly.
