Boxing Field Trip
Character(s): Tom Bronson, Touma Norstein, Edward Elric, Billy Cranston, Chris Ramirez, Rainbow Dash, Damian Wayne, Sigyn, Espio, (+ any student/SeeD who signed up)
Location: Winhill
Rating: PG-13
Open/Closed/Finished: Closed
Summary: Tom and Touma take kids on a field trip to discover new opponents and learn more about the wonderful world of Boxing! So far, so good... right? Backdated to Saturday afternoon.
[Friday had been uneventful, as far as field trips went. Tom and Touma had requested Espio's help with flying the Ragnarok to Winhill, where the Cadets got a tour of the old boxing studio before attempting a few rounds... as well as a good meal from one of the local inns and a few (tolerable) remarks from some of the townspeople.
Saturday, everyone'd woken up bright and early so that they could take in the sights before heading down to the same inn for lunch. Tom was more than thrilled that everything was going so well; after all, it was his first field trip that he was in charge of, and it was going along pretty well!
This afternoon, they'd meet one of Tom's acquaintances, who was schooled in this world's form of Boxing, and get to witness Touma going against him before attempting to learn a few new moves from this "master of Boxing."
But first? Lunch! Tom's more than grateful for the spread of sandwiches, salads, and various beverages. There's also home baked cookies, for those who believe in dessert before lunch, but Tom won't judge too harshly if someone does stack up on dessert.
It's a lull in the midst of activity, and honestly? Tom's kind of grateful as he takes a seat at one of the empty tables. He's needed some time to think about the (tight) schedule they're on - at Touma's insistence, of course.]

[Makes as if to go get his coffee already, but then glances back.]
...you know, if you're so scientifically inclined, I could lend you a Chaos Emerald. See what you make of it. I can't figure out how to use the stupid thing, and the only person around here who knew's done a disappearing act.

Sure, I guess I could look at it. [He's trying not to sound enthusiastic mainly because Espio didn't seem to respect his field much. It's pretty difficult, actually.] Although knowing what you'd want to use something like that for might help. Anyway, weren't you singing the praises of this world's scientists just now? You tried asking some of them?

Basically, I don't trust them. At least you're close by, and don't have a whole country's defences watching out for you!

[Shakes his head. No, let's not talk about that.]
Knuckles had a great big green one that could float a huge island.
What's in it for you... chance to check out a fancy battery, I guess. Just don't attach it to a rocket. I'll want it back.

[He sighs irritably (not to mention slightly too theatrically) and scratches the back of his head.] But yeah, that works. I guess I'll pick it up after we get back, if you let me know when. I mean, assuming you didn't bring it out to the middle of nowhere just for the hell of it.

[Pulls a glittering purple jewel from, apparently, nowhere - Espio wasn't entirely sure how, but the Emerald liked to make itself easy to carry around and he wasn't about to complain about it - and places it on the table.]
You can hang onto it during lunch, but I want it back before you go do more boxing stuff. I'll let you borrow it properly back in Garden.

He turns it from side to side a couple of times, and starts to rifle through his pocket for a pencil before remembering he's pretending to be unimpressed.]
Right. I'll give it back to you when we get moving. But just remember, I'm not making any promises. This thing's newer to me than it is to you.

[Who knows? The Emerald might - might - screw good old Equivelant Exchange a little, through being an outright weird power source thingy. Or not. Stupid Chaos and its determination to be simultaneously awesome and useless.]
