Did your beloved walk into the arms of your rival? Were you trapped in a situation with no escape other than death? Because that could be why you're here. According to the Odine Company, the mysterious appearances of people from other times and realities can theoretically be linked to lasting after-effects of the 'Time Compression' that took place twenty-four years ago -- and in the distant future. Though stable for the most part, the aftershocks caused by the Time Compression have rippled through space and time, finding resonance in moments of great mental epiphanies or anguish and then flinging them from their 'world' into our own. Once upon a time, the mobile military academy Balamb Garden committed themselves to helping the misplaced, taking under its wing the off-worlders who ventured through its doors as staff and students alike. That was before the war, before the clash of world powers that played a destructive game of chicken with the fabric of reality itself. Before the mercenaries of SeeD rallied in the face of Esthar's military and political might, and wrested it back. Thanks to the bravery of those who fought, the people who craved mastery over Time Compression for their own ends have been defeated, and the technology to control it rests securely in Garden's hands -- but pockets of Time Compression linger on in places both remote and close to home, threaded through every other universe it has ever touched. There are cities and Gardens to rebuild, monsters to fight, classes to take, and a world to set off on a new course. Will you go, or will you stay? It's up to you. Witches Reign is a nexus-based, open sandbox RP that takes place in the unnamed world of Final Fantasy VIII, twenty-four years after Ultimecia's defeat. Anyone who would like to play in the setting created by the conclusion of the game's four-year metaplot is welcome to join, new or old. | |||
