Summary: It's an excuse to pump dance music really really loudly, tbh.

The party was put together ridiculously fast, but everyone who decided to help went all out, and the place is pretty damn awesome. There are refreshments, strobe lights, a loudass music setup, and lots of space to dance. Come on in and have a blast! Garden will be sailing off in the morning, and then it's back to school. Time to get in that last hurrah!

So she was smiling too.

Fionna looked quizzical. "Why? What's such a big deal about how old I am? Uh, about sixteen, actually."

"Hey, that's what studying is for! Well, I say that now, but my roomie kinda had to beat me over the head to do it! I'm not kidding...she actually tied me up and pressed the books to my head until I started reading. She was real gung ho about learning."

Which, at the time, Fionna had to respect.

"Awesome!"

And that earns a very odd look from Kory. "Who is your roommate? She sounds a little obsessed with it."

"Oh, ah, that was Twilight Sparkle. I mean, she was trying to be nice about it at first, but she knew if I was gonna learn, it had be the hard way, and she was right, actually. I'm glad she did it."

She chuckled at that. "Oh, I've met her before. I understand now. Well, it is good that she did then."

"Yeah, are you kidding? I needed the tough stuff! I just wish she was still here, you know?"

She nodded. "It is hard to lose a friend, but it's probably better that she return to her home."

"Naw, by that point I'd have already taken care of it," Rainbow said with a casual wave of her hoof. "Since I'm faster."

"Low," she admitted grimly. "I haven't had the chance to DO all that many high-profile missions. Everything with Sol Invictus and the Mage and the political relations with Esthar and everybody hasn't been great for business."

"Oh! You know, I hadn't even imagined you had an adoptive father. I always thought you guys had that brother-in-spirit thing going on," she said, giggling a little at her own presumption. "No, I don't have any siblings. I'm an only kid."

"Cuz a the damn laws, 's what I'm tellin' y'," Namur snorted. "After y' turn sixteen y' can go t' the clubs I think. Maybe eighteen. Ain't really paid attention."

Ace raised an eyebrow at her before she shrugged and smiled. He supposed some people just made weird assumptions. "That must have been a bit lonely growing up."

Namur sat back on the table next to the boombox.

"Can y' go on higher ranked missions if y' got someone with y' that qualifies?" He might know a few people...

"Yeah," Fionna said, looking down, "But, it was cool having a roommate not really like me, you know? She was like living with a super smart scholar, and she was willing to look out for me. Even if she's gone, I still wanna learn all that I can."

Fionna blew a raspberry. "You're not that unstoppable! Twilight's told me stories, you know!"

Fionna shrugged. "Why make those rules at all? What's the big deal?"

She nodded. "I understand what you mean and I think that is a wonderful idea. To still try and learn everything you can."

"Well, it was wonderful talking with you, but I don't want to keep you."

"Why make a law says y' can't kill no one? Or one that says no stealin'?" Namur replied. "Ain't goin' t' stop them that's decided t' do them things. But it makes people feel like they're protected. An' there's lots a people won't do somethin' if it's against the law, too, so I guess there's that."

Fionna shook her head. "Nah, not at all! And thanks, for trying to show me how to ballroom dance. If you're not busy, I'd like a few more, ah, lessons. I don't wanna suck horribly starting out. Namur would never let me live it down!"

She reached over and gave Kori a hug.

Fionna made an impatient noise. "Man, I don't mean in general! I mean, like, what's the big deal about my age in a place like that?"

And she gave her a hug in return. "Of course! I'd be happy to teach you more! I'll do my best!"

Fionna blushed. "Oh, and uh, I just wanted to say, you know, you look AMAZING today!"

Yeah, skirt and blue shirt didn't come close.

"Oh! Thank you! And you look very nice too." And she gave her a wave before she headed off.

"Hell if I know! I ain't the one makin' the damn laws!" Namur could be just as impatient right back. "Hell, I'd take y' t' one if I knew they wasn't goin' t' stop y' at the shitty door."
