Summary: Hunting for GF's! Carbunkle flavored.

Ronnae spent the previous day preparing for this event. Aside from graduation next semester, it would be the biggest event in her academic journey in this world. She went over everything she learned about para-magic and GF's as well as reading up on previous expeditions done by previous cadets and SeeD's to gain knowledge into what she could be expecting.

She was a seasoned warrior in her world, having faced massive creatures, rogue warlords, destructive dragons and chaotic gods and yet it was never easy to face a new opponent without much knowledge about what they could and couldn't do. It would do no good to underestimate this opponent as such and she made sure that all her equipment was up to date and in perfect condition. Having a small team also helped and judging from their abilities she figured she should go into this as a defender instead of her usual assault regalia.

Once she had gathered everything she needed, she made her way to the assigned place and waited, large sword at her side and massive shield strapped to her back. She went over planned scenarios in her head to pass the time and keep any sort of nerves at bay. Truthfully however, she was more excited than anything.

As far as opponents went, the giant lizards might have been a simple enough affair. But Saber wasn't one to take chances.

In less than a second, she summoned Excalibur -- rendered invisible within Invisible Air -- and dropped into an en garde stance, ready to attack once the hungry creatures had closed the distance.

"As soon as they get close I'll draw the GF," Ronnae said confidently.

"Once that's done, get ready to strike them down!"

The twin foes rushed up to engage the party -- then stopped short just out of melee range, side-by-side. Almost as one, their jaws dropped, and a blast of magma breath erupted forward in twin washes towards the three of them. Not only fire elemental, this magic-infused breath also brought the dangerous risk of Petrification, should one of them be particularly unlucky...

Ronnae didn't know this attack, but the kind wasn't one that she wasn't familiar. It looked like one of the attacks from the creatures she's fought before even if she didn't know all the qualities.

As such, in an attempt to deflect the attack and chance the possibility of of stunning them, she leaped and slammed down with a mighty force that sent a shattering shockwave engulfed by earth their way.

Not waiting to see if the attack was effective, she began the required actions to draw what they had come for. Even through all of this, she tried to keep her focus and alertness about her surroundings, wanting to make sure her teammates were okay.

What...what was it doing? Was it...? Oh, no, nope, uh-uh. Whatever it was going to do, he wasn't going to stick around for it.

Ginji dashed to the side to avoid the attack...and promptly stumbled in awe upon seeing Ronnae leap into the air and land with such might that the resulting force broke the concrete as it flew towards their enemies.

He stared, wide-eyed for a split second before jumping back into action and sprinting towards the side of the right creature, his fist drawn back. If he fumbled around too much, he was likely to get himself killed, he knew.

Okay. Okay. Time to put on the serious face that this serious fight required.

Ronnae just needed a bit more time to finish the drawing successfully. She just hoped that the others would be okay while she finished.

Once that was done she could join them in the fray and defeat the monsters so they could go home to a nice rest and a warriors feast.

Or so she hoped.

But that was the easy part. Surviving might prove more difficult, especially as the Iguions summon power between them. Their Resonance attack grows in power, becoming a damaging wave that washes over the group with force punishing enough that it seems they might vibrate apart.

Saber didn't even think twice before stepping in front, Excalibur positioned herself between the occupied Ronnae and the oncoming attack...

Only, it didn't seem to stop at the petite knight. Gritting her teeth, she pressed forward through the painful vibrating wave, aiming to get within striking distance to lop the creatures' heads off if she could.

Once the task was done, their current mission shifted from obtaining the GF, to defeating the monsters that now threatened their team.

Ronnae didn't have much time to move out of the aftershock but remained stable thanks to a defensive stance. Once she was done, she charged straight at the two and attempted a cleave attack, slashing wide to try and hit both while they were close to each other.

The creatures were flesh and blood -- but they had originally been animated from stone, long ago, by magic. They still carried much of that toughness with them. The blows from the cadets' weapon struck true but not mortally, and while one Iguion charged at them to bowl them over with a fierce rush, the other exhaled another blast of that dangerous Magma Breath.
