Goodbye Dollet and Thanks for All the Fish! (backdated to Sept 28)

Summary: It's an excuse to pump dance music really really loudly, tbh.

The party was put together ridiculously fast, but everyone who decided to help went all out, and the place is pretty damn awesome. There are refreshments, strobe lights, a loudass music setup, and lots of space to dance. Come on in and have a blast! Garden will be sailing off in the morning, and then it's back to school. Time to get in that last hurrah!

"Oh good!" Fionna exclaimed. "I need a new study buddy anyway."

At this, Fionna brightened immediately! "Awesome, because I think that will be my worse class!"

"We can study whatever classes we can. I've taken most of them at this point, at least the mandatory ones."

"Well, it's going to be that much better now!" Kory grinned. She liked the classes but anything with math made it hard for her. Having a friend in the class would at least make it more exciting to go to.

Fionna shook her head. "Not me. I've been kinda draggin my feet because I wanted to take my electives and get my major done. And I'm TOTES gonna have plenty of training this trimester!"

She was grinning. "Good! Because the only way I got through remedial math was with my roomie's help, and she's gone now."

Less grinning now.

"Oh, I'm sorry to hear that! I'd be happy to help you as much as I can. I took remedial math too so I know what that is like. I had to get help to get through it."

She smiled. "Let's not talk about classes now. We are at a party! We should be having fun!"

She didn't want her to be sad tonight.

"Really? Who helped you?"

Oh good, distraction. Fionna is distracted so very easily too.

"Yeah, we should! What do you wanna do?"

"Marco. He's a good teacher."

She thought about that for a moment, looking around. What did she want to do?

"Well, I haven't gotten a snack yet. Maybe you can show me what they have?"

"Marco? Isn't he part of the pirate crew?"

She nodded. "Yeah! They've got a lot really good refreshments, some crunchy kinda stuff...oh, and punch!"

"He is. He's told me all about it. Their ship sounds amazing."

"Crunchy stuff?" Well, that could have been a lot of things. "What was your favorite?"

Fionna nodded, pointing to a snack that looked a lot like a pate. "That! I have no idea what its called though."

She smiled. "Yeah, I hear stuff mostly from Thatch or Namur. They're pretty cool when they're not reminding you how young you are."

Kory decided she was going to try it then. She moved closer to the table to get a plate so she could dish up some of the pate and get some crackers to try it on.

"Oh is that so? I've spoken with Thatch before. He's very nice. I haven't really had much chance to speak with Namur yet."

"Don't forget the punch!" Fionna said, handing her some.

She smiled. "He's a grumpy fish, but he's cool."

"Oh, thank you." She took the offered punch with a smile, taking a sip of the punch before trying the pate.

"I think that's what Thatch told me too. So I guess it must be true."

Fionna sometimes had the memory of a sieve. The punch, in typical Thatch fashion, was spiked.

"I like him, he just messes with me a lot, even when he's teaching me stuff. Did you already take biology?"

Kory didn't notice anything about the taste. Even if she had, she would have assumed it was something with how it was made here. For the moment, though, she was having no problems with it.

"I have friends who do the same thing to me. I did. I took biology two trimesters ago."

Fionna was drinking in spurts, so at the moment, she is not drunk yet. As she also weighs a little more than most girls here though, she was feeling a little tipsy.

"Hey, do you dance?"

She looks up and smiles as she finishes her punch.

"I do! I like dancing! I was pretty good at the ballroom dancing class." She didn't know much else relating to dancing.

This could not have been better news to Fionna. She downed the punch, hiccuping, the turned to Kori.

"Could you show me? I have to take it this trimester."

"Of course! I'd happy to show you. Right now? It would probably be better if I lead since I've already taken the class after all."

And she will be ready to go with her out on to the dance floor if she wants to dance some of the ballroom moves.

"Dude, by all means. No way I'd be leading when I know that I'll just trip over my own feet!"

Fionna followed, cautiously. Tipsy or not, trying to dance was definitely going to sober her up.

Kory chuckled and started for the dance floor, not before offering Fionna her hand to walk out there with her.

"It's okay. I felt the first way when I first started dancing. It gets easier. Usually most dances start with the same basic moves and it gets fancier from there."

Fionna gratefully took her hand, of course. She had no idea how you even started this, had only seen bits and pieces of this kind of thing in Gumball's balls.

"I usually, you know, bounce around and stuff when I dance. How does this work?"

Once they are out on the dance floor Kory turned to her. "Well, the basic of it is we stand facing each other, you put your hands here-" She guided Fionna's hands to where they were supposed to be. "The person who is leading, their hands go here-" And she moved her hands.

"Then it is a very basic step. I step towards you and you step back, then we step to the side, then we do the reverse and we keep doing that. It's done slowly. One two three, one two three."

And she would try to show her how to do it.

"Oh, uh, ok," Fionna said, apparently forgetting how intimate this stuff was. It was nothing like what she and Namur were doing earlier, where you got to use all your awesome agility and flips! This was just...really close. Was that why all those couples were into it so much?

One two three. One tw-trip stumble. Ok, try that again. One two th-ow, stubbed toe.

"This seems harder than it should be."

It was more intimate, but Kory had no problems unless Fionna did. She didn't have the same issues with being close to others that some people did. She knows they are just friends so she doesn't see the need to worry about it.

"It's okay. We can go slower."

[fionna_time]

The only adjustment Fionna had to make was the lack of movement...and the fact that going this slow made Fionna a total klutz for some reason. The intimacy was really more of a "not much space to move" thing.

"Er, ha, yeah, let's do that. I'm kinda sucking right now."
