Chocobo Forest!

Location: The chocobo forest, newly appeared near Garden

Summary: Characters may use this log to explore the chocobo forest!

OOC: This chocobo forest is actually the Chocobo Village! It is full of yellow chocobos which may be ridden, white chocobos which will restore your MP (if you have any), and black chocobos which can fly! (But not over mountains, they only land in forests, and once you get on them again they will fly you back to the Chocobo village).)

Also, if you summon him with a Gysahl Green the Big Chocobo here is kind of a surly bastard who doesn't want to store your damn items.

Feel free to NPC your chocobos and have fun!

"WOOO HOOO!!!"

Who's that screaming on the top of her lungs, on a flying black Chocobo? Why its Fionna, of course! First day of classes is done, and the girl is letting off steam by indulging in on of her favorite past times that didn't involve all her muscles.

"Higher guy!"

Dolphin had at first been wary of the chocobos (birds are not a fish's best friend, you see), but so long as she doesn't bother the chocobos, they won't bother her, so she's happy to remain on the ground, watching her fellow Gardeners have a good time riding and chasing the giant birds. There will be no high flying for her today. Nope. But she can at least make sure everyone is playing safe.

She's watching Fionna with a little amusement, glad to see the girl enjoying herself. She hears Fionna shout and walks out under the large bird, careful not to walk near the rear (that would be a catastrophe).

"Don't push the guy too far, Fionna! He might not want to go higher!"

"Nah man, he's totally into it!" Fionna insisted, patting the chocobo in the neck. Indeed, whether to liked to fly or simply liked Fionna in general, it was flying higher, spurred on by her prompts.

"AWESOME! You should join us Dolphin!"

Dolphin's still wary watching Fionna and the chocobo fly, but if Fionna's confident that she's got it all under control then there's no reason to worry so much. She unfolds her arms and turns her head, looking in the direction the two are flying.

"Just don't fly out of the forest. We don't want to lose you."

Fionna grinned. "Nah, I want ya to keep up! It's fun doing this, but even better with a pal! Isn't this great?"

The chocobo clearly thought so and even tossed Fionna in the air just to catch her again, leaving the girl mad with glee.

"I'd rather stay on the ground, if that's all right with you." Dolphin's heart does a tiny leap when Fionna is tossed into the air, but it calms to regular beats per minute when the chocobo catches Fionna on its back, both oblivious to Dolphin's mild terror.

"You should be wearing a helmet if you're going to do that!"

"Hey, if you gotta!" Fionna said, laughing wildly, the chocobo swerving a hard left and actually throwing Fionna off by mistake. Fionna hit the ground hard and started rolling...and was still laughing mixed with her ows.

"Helmet? That's for wusses!"

Dolphin's heart actually has a mini attach when Fionna falls, and then she hits and Dolphin's ears listen for the telltale sounds of bones breaking...but nothing. She looks on, astonished, as Fionna laughs it off and only has a few aches to show for her fall.

She's a little awed as well but then she remembers that she was scared a moment ago. She responds, "Being safe does not make you a wuss."

Fionna, of course, knew how to fall, just as well as she knew how to take a hit even if she fell wrong. Granted, Dolphin had a point anyway.

"You're never gonna have the best fun with a helmet! Sometimes you gotta go free!"

And here was her Chocobo, attempting to swoop Fionna up, though not without putting its head under Fionna's chin, who immediately understood it was the animal's way of apologizing for making her fall. She stroked the head to show she forgave and trusted him, and she was up again.

"But a helmet protects our heads." She's trying to appeal to the girl's sense of reason. While, yes, being carefree looked a lot less stressful and more relaxing, it also looked dangerous and while her life isn't exactly sunshine and roses, she values it far too much to do anything with the kind of abandon that Fionna shows.

"We could get concussions without helmets. And then we might get a brain injury."

"Well sure, if you've never done this kinda stuff before," Fionna said. Oh, reason and logic were all really good things to have, but it was hard to sometimes explain this to a girl who was very much a fly by night kind of person. FAR too impulsive to think ahead when it came to having a good time.

She paused. "But you feel really strong about this, huh?"

Oh good. She gets it.

Dolphin lets out a sigh of relief she hadn't even realized she'd been holding.

"I just don't want you to have to go to the hospital."

Fionna smiled, then tapped her head. "Fine. I don't wanna worry you too much. I'll stay down here, ok?"

Dolphin smiles. "Thank you."

She turns around to look back at the Chocobo Fionna had been riding. "But that doesn't mean you can't ride him. As long as you don't do too many tricks."

Fionna frowned. "If I don't do any tricks, what's the point of riding him?"

Even the Chocobo seemed put out by this. Fionna had chosen well.

Champloo, for his part, had caught a chocobo. But rather than ride it... he appeared to be measuring it.

Also, he is a chef. Bird lovers might want to interfere at this point.

Kory was out in the middle of the forest with the chocobo. She's not riding one either. She's pretty much trying to get one to follow her. She knew she probably couldn't keep it, but it was adorable and she was enjoying this. What a great end to the day.

Then she spotted Champloo measuring another of the birds. "What are you doing?"

"I am communing with this ingredient!" he said brightly, as he encouraged the confused bird to spread its stubby wing.

"Ingredient? You are thinking of cooking that bird?" She may sound alarmed at that. She was an animal lover (she also didn't eat much meat) so that was rather concerning to her.

"All things are ingredients! Even you and I are ingredients, but I would not cook you." He specifically didn't rule out cooking himself... "However, these birds are not known in the Netherworld! And they are not quite like the chocobos native to this world either! Therefore, they are an unknown ingredients, and to a cook, there can be no greater failing than to not know an ingredient. Thus I must come to understand it."

He patted the chocobo on the head. For its part, the bird either enjoyed the attention or seemed prepared to endure it.

Riding one the the yellow chocobo, Pinkie spotted Champloo with Starfire and waved to them both. She got the bird to slow down to a trot before stopping completely.

"Hey guys, what's up?" She gave the chocobo she rode a pet on the head idly.

"But... but this sweet creature..."

Kory looked over as Pinky Pie came riding over. Her own chocobo looked curiously over at the new arrival. No rider, but Kory was very good at getting them to listen.

"He's calling this sweet little thing an 'ingredient'."

She doesn't specifically say he had been talking about cooking it. She's trying not to make it sound that bad.

"Pinkie Pie!" The chef smiled broadly at her appearance, not in the least surprised that she'd found one of the creatures to ride. "Did you know that these chocobos are not quite the same as the ones from this world? There are many subtle differences between them!"

Pinkie Pie, of course, knew his stance on actually cooking chocobos, since she was the one who had argued with him about doing it until he agreed not to all that time ago. In fact, thinking back on that moment made him smile even more broadly. At the time, who could have known how things would have developed between them? And yet in retrospect, it seemed so obvious.

"Oh, well, aren't we all?" Pinkie asked, in regards to Starfire's question. Champloo explained about 'ingredients' and all that jibber jabber but all she came out with was everyone was made of something special and should be nourished! Right? Right. Plus, she knew Champloo wouldn't cook one. He promised as such, and knew he would keep it.

She did look down at her own chocobo in curiosity. "Really?!" Jumping down, Pinkie inspected her chocobo carefully, seeing if she could spot the differences. "Like what?"

And now Kory was confused. Ingredient was cooking right? So she's not quite sure she understood this whole conversation now.

"But... that means he wants to cook it right?" She didn't know anything about this agreement not to so she looked still rather surprised by this whole thing.

"Besides the colors, of course, they have different proportions. I will share my measurements with you when I am finished." He tugged the chocobo's head down to measure its beak, not without some laughter. "Hyahyahya, this grass is an ingredient; shall I cook it? Pinkie Pie is an ingredient, shall I then roast her in the oven?"

Poor Kory. Pinkie only grinned at the questions, idly petting the chocobo, who seemed curious about her hair. How is it so pink?!

"I think I'd taste better than grass, though!"

And Kory is just going to stand here now and looked rather shocked. She wasn't quite sure what to say to all of this. Were they really talking about people being ingredients? This was just too weird.

"I think you need to take a Home Economics class," Champloo said, still grinning. "Your mastery of the art of cooking is far from complete! To cook is to live! To cook is to risk your life!"

Pinkie pushed Champloo's face out of the way.

"YOU SHOULD TOTALLY TAKE MY CLASS IF YOU DO! You probably won't need to risk your life!"

Probably.

Really... that wasn't much comfort to her. She's already rather confused and telling her she won't have to risk her life? Not helping.

"I think I am okay not knowing it." She really is rather concerned about this now.

Champloo seized Pinkie around the waist to haul her behind him -- all in play and good fun of course. "A class which does not challenge you does not teach you! Your soul will lie flat and lukewarm in salty broth, instead of searing from the sizzle of oil and spice heated in the fire of education! Therefore, you should enroll in Home Ec as soon as possible!"

Flailing, Pinkie was hauled behind, but nothing would keep her down from getting new students! But wait a minute!

"Who are you calling lukewarm?!"

"Could you stop using cooking language for a few minutes and speak in something normal?"

Yes, that's how much she's confused by this.

"Any class that is not Home Ec, Pinkie!" he said with a laugh, as his efforts became less of a haul and more of a one-armed embrace. To Kory, however, he gave a curious look. "Have we not been plain? Could we make our desire to see you in our classes any more obvious?"
