"What?" Elliot asked, his tone suggesting that it was completely obvious what he was thinking. "You gave me your answer."
That was the closest thing to an apology that he could really manage. He wouldn't press the issue any further; he wouldn't even bother to bring it up again. He still didn't get it, but he was going to try. Well, he still would have liked to hit something, of course, but he probably didn't have the energy for that anymore anyway.
"But listen," he said, his voice surprisingly level for all that had happened this afternoon. "Just because I don't need to know doesn't mean I don't want to know. If something's bothering you, you shouldn't keep it to yourself. You're my servant, aren't you?"
He didn't expect him to respond to that, though. It didn't matter if that's how he felt, because he knew it wouldn't change Leo's own response. Maybe he really only said it for his own benefit, and nothing more.
