Summary: Katara's been called upon by Garden Faculty to the Headmaster's Office to speak with the Headmaster on what had happened in Dollet.

[Cid waits patiently for the young Cadet to arrive and be announced by the Faculty, pen scribbling along the line requiring his signature. After the recent newsletter and the incident, damage control is necessary in Dollet as well as with the Gardens.

He sets the freshly signed document to the side and picks up the next one, eyes narrowing at what it reads and glances across to the doors of his office, hearing the voices out in the hallway.]

[Katara knew this was going to happen-- so why was her stomach still all tied up in a knot? This is the second time she's had to be called to the Headmasters office, the second time she's gotten in trouble since her arrival.

How did she become such a troublemaker?

The thought seems to only magnify her nervousness. When the Faculty announces her arrival and pushes open the large wooden doors leading into Headmaster Cid's office, her hands are clasped over her lap as she slowly walks forward. She tries to keep her head held high, her shoulders square-- but there's no mistaking the uneasiness in her expression.]

[Cid sets aside the paper just as soon as the Cadet comes up to his desk. He offers her a light smile, the Faculty pulling the doors shut to leave them to it.]

Good afternoon, young Cadet.

[Upon being addressed, Katara stiffly shifted to give Cid a salute before falling into a rigid stance.]

You wanted to see me, Sir?

[The salute has Cid waving it away dismissively.] At ease.

And yes! I'm sure you're well aware of what had happened?

[Even with Cid's order, it does little to relax her-- she continues to stand stiffly, hands clasped behind her back.]

Yes, sir. I saw the article in the newsletter.

[Cid sighs. Well this won't do. How can he talk to someone who acts so stiffly.]

Please - at ease. I meant it. It's quite alright.

On the matter of the newsletter, I would very much like to hear your side of things. If you will. Please, tell me about your ability. I'm curious to know more!

[With his insistence, Katara manages to let her shoulders relax, body unwinding just slightly.]

Yes, sir. What the articles said-- I have the ability to manipulate water, to make it move on my own will. It's called waterbending, and I possess healing abilities through it as well.

[The Headmaster leans forward a little, more curious now.]

Can you really?

[He pushes his glass of water towards her and smiles.]

Even with this...? Please, if you will.

[Katara gives a small nod, before shifting a foot backwards, her stance shoulder-width apart. She carefully raises her hands, palms open-- and with the moment, the water within the cup begins to stir before rising into the air. A gentle tugging motion draws the liquid to her.]

Like this, sir.

[Cid tilts his head, still curious, and slowly rises from his chair. He comes around the desk, arms folded.]

Is this something you've done your entire life?

[He's tempted to poke at the water floating so effortlessly in the air. It's such a fascinating technique. Who would have known.]

[Katara gives a small nod, hands still outstretched and held up to suspend the water between both herself and the Headmaster.]

I've been able to bend for as long as I can remember, but I've only recently mastered the ability.

Most fascinating...

Do you know of anyone else here who can do this? Or shares your ability? [Cid pauses, brows lifting.]

What will happen if I attempt to touch it?

There are other benders here at the school, but I happen to be the only waterbender here.

[She's amused that the Headmaster seems to be almost childishly curious of her ability, and she smiles at his question.]

It won't pop, if that's what you're expecting. I'm controlling the shape, so you'll puncture the surface but that's it.

Other benders? Now I'm even more curious! Would you care to explain?

[Since it won't pop, the Headmaster undoes one of his cuffs to push his sleeve up his arm. He reaches out hesitantly to poke a finger at it, leaning forward, glasses sliding down his nose some.]

Well, in our world, we have benders who have the ability to manipulate one of four elements: Water, Earth, Fire and Air. Only one person has the ability to bend all for elements, the Avatar. Aang's the Avatar in our lifetime, and he's actually at the school as well! But he hasn't exactly mastered firebending yet...

Other than that, Toph is an Earthbender-- she can manipulate earth, rocks, sand, and metal. Zuko and Azula are Firebenders, but Azula is the only one who is capable of shooting lightning.

[Katara watches as the Headmaster repetitively pokes at the water-- a couple moments later, she lets out a breath against the liquid, freezing it.]

[He gasps, eyes going even wider, bows lifting higher.] Most fascinating..! You actually turned it to ice!

[The Headmaster straightens then and strokes his chin in thought over the information she's just shared about the other elemental abilities the other cadets from her world possess.]

I remember the one Cadet, yes. He was the one who was brought in for fighting with with you upon arriving, correct?

Cadet Aang, Cadet Zuko, Cadet Toph, and Cadet Azula. Hmmm...

[Katara gives a nod, looking a bit sheepish. Oh, yeah-- getting in trouble and being sent to the Headmasters office the first day definitely was not the best way to set a good first impression. Good thing he doesn't know about the other fight...]

Yes, sir-- that's him. Azula is his sister.

I had no idea. And she is able to perform the same ability as he? Using fire?

[With a thoughtful look, Cid begins to casually pace in front of her. He pauses as he reaches one end and tilts his head to look up at the ceiling for a moment.]

Perhaps I'll have a talk with each of them. To get a feel for the abilities they each possess because, really, this is all so fascinating.

[He turns back to her and moves to stand in front of her again, smiling warmly. But the smile is brief. His next words are somber, as is his expression.]

Cadet Katara. I must strongly advise that you tread carefully with such an ability when outside of Garden, understood? After the incident in Dollet, we must be extra vigilant. To have the elements at your command - there are many already who are claiming you to be a witch. You are restricted from using it outside of Garden unless absolutely necessary.

[Cid raises a brow.]

Personally I consider it a gift. And a beautiful one at that. [He smiles again and gently taps her on the nose with a finger before stepping back.]

[Katara simply nods along-- it seems more like he's musing to himself more than anything. But when he turns to address her, Katara stiffens slightly. She'd expected such a speech, though, and she has to admit this meeting was going far better than she could ever hope for. To signal that she'd listened to ever word he'd said, Katara nods and gives a small salute.]

Yes, Sir. I'll be sure to keep my waterbending under wraps and confined within Garden. [And she relaxes at his last comment, her smile bright. Though, after a moment, she remembers something she'd seen in the paper that hard sparked her interest. Shifting her weight slightly, when she speaks she's hesitant.]

Uhm, Sir... I know this might not be the best time to ask about this, but I remember seeing an ad in the newsletter regarding a life guarding position at the pool. I took First Aid last quarter and I'm CPR certified-- has anyone else asked about the position yet? [Her expression is hopeful as she looks up at him.]
