Office Hours 2: The Officehouring

Summary: Snow doesn't learn from experience is holding office hours again!



In preparation for finals coming up, Snow had once again shoved the WTR classroom into something he could call an office by virtue of some practice mats now being stacked high enough to sit on. Having done so, he settled in to a simple exercise routine. After all, even Instructors have to keep in shape.

Vanille lifted a hand to her face, tapping her chin in deep thought.

Prepare for terrible, Snow: "The Snowman!"

Groaning, Snow dropped his face into his hands.

"Tell Serah that one," he said, muffled. "She'll love it."

[brightens]

"Ah?" She leans down a little, looking at him. "You don't like it?"

"It was terrible!" he protested, but given that he was starting to chuckle into his hands, Vanille could take that as she would!

"It wasn't that bad!" She pouts, placing her hands on her hips... Which are hard to find, in that big coat.

"Okay, Vanille, I'm sure I'll regret this, but if that wasn't 'that bad'," he said, looking up with a gleam in his eyes and a smile still hidden by his hands, "what is?"

[brightens]

"Mmmmm," she brought her hand up to face, tapping her chin thoughtfully. "Aah... 'The Big Freeze!'"

"I asked," Snow said, lowering his head down with that particular tone of voice exactly midway between pain and humor. "I had to ask!"

[brightens]

"You wanted to hear bad!" So, she'd given it to him.

"I should never have underestimated you," he said, shaking his head. "I deserved that."

[brightens]

She giggles, nodding and practically jumping in place. "Sure did!"

"Aaah," once she settled back down, she decides to slip out of the coat, holding it back up to him. "Here you go."

He took it back, swinging it around to slide his sleeves through in a gesture that screamed 'dramatic' and 'heroic'. Heroes have to look the part, after all. "You know, I should get you one of these for when the weather gets colder."

Purposely oversized. Because Vanille in a big floppy coat was one of the cutest things ever.

She watched, admired, and added the movement to her list of things to do if she were really a hero! After all, Snow would always be the real hero here, no matter what she said. "Ah... One that heavy?" She couldn't imagine walking around with something like that.

"I couldn't even if I wanted to. Can't duplicate the AMP tech in this one." That and even a coat large enough to just be cutely floppy on Vanille would still have a ton less material in it...

[brightens]

"I guess not. But, that's not really a bad thing." For her. She would get worn out walking around in a coat that heavy. "Well... I guess there would be other ways to make it heavy, though." Like putting rocks in the pockets.

"I kinda worry that something will happen to this one. If it broke or got stolen, I couldn't replace it here. Lucky for me it's tough." It had survived Fal'cie, Raines, and the entire ammon load of a small PSICOM army, so what was he really worried about?

But then he got a sly smile. "I'll just get yours made out of wool."

[brightens]

"You'll just have to be careful with it." She worried the same thing about her rod, though she knew how to take good enough care of it and fix it whenever she did anything too damaging to it.

Wool? Did someone say wool? Do you see how excited she looks about that. "Ah, really?"

He hadn't watched seemingly endless harassment of innocent Pulse sheep to not learn a thing or two about how Vanille's mind worked.

"I think I could make an arrangement or two," he said, with a confidence that promised the world. "I'd give it to you as a birthday present, but I'm not even sure how I'd figure out when that is, since I have no idea how we'd fit all the calendars together sensibly."

[brightens]

"Me, neither!" As a matter of fact, she isn't even sure the calendars of Pulse and Cocoon are all the same. She hadn't thought about her birthday in a while, either... It was one of those things you didn't tend to think about when you had so much weight on your shoulders, after all. In a way, it makes her sad to think about it now— because it just reminds her of Pulse, of times when things were more simple... And when all she'd wanted for her birthday was a baby chocobo to keep as a pet. Things like that.

"Well then, we'll just have to have a decent birthday party for you as soon as we have some free time, too!" She wasn't getting a chicobo from him, though!

[brightens]

"What about you and Serah? We have to do it for you, too!" No one gets left behind..!

"Not till Lightning gets back," he said. "We have to do a birthday right, since the last birthday party the three of us had together... didn't go so well." Snow grinned a bit sheepishly; he knew he had just as much responsibility for botching that as Lightning did. They'd never get Light's 21st back again, but they could make the next one good enough to make up for that.

[brightens]

She nods. She didn't know the full story of Lightning's birthday, but, she could imagine, what with what had been happening with them, with her and Fang waking up, the Pulse Vestige opening up, Serah being branded... She could imagine how things would have happened. "We'll just have to make it the best birthday ever..!"
