Second meeting
Character(s): Headmaster Cid, SeeDs and Instructors
Location: 3F Conference Room
Rating: PG
Open/Closed/Finished: Open
Summary: A monthly meeting between Headmaster Cid and the SeeDs.
[Now that Garden's been settled in Esthar for a week, it's time for Headmaster Cid to address both SeeD and the Instructors present on some very important matters. The Headmaster sits at the head of the table just as he did the last meeting. There's no newsletter in his hands but rather a few leaflets of papers pinned together by a paperclip at the top corner, the newsletter resting over top of the clipboard at his side.
Cid scans the contents while he patiently waits for everyone to arrive and seat themselves, a gray folder laid out in front of him.
This meeting is much different from that of the first one, but as soon as everyone is seated, Cid lowers the papers and looks around at the faces gathered.]
Thank you all for joining me today.
[Cid clears his throat.]
By now you've all read the newsletter and understand that today's meeting will address why Garden has been moved to Esthar. Most if not all present are aware of a small village known as Winhill, located west of Timber and southeast of the Galbadian continent.
Reports of a Sorceress have been brought to our attention, and we have been asked to investigate the area.
[The Headmaster looks towards the SeeDs present and then goes back to looking around the table.]
We're to speak with the townspeople in hopes of finding out more information pertaining this woman and the woman in question so that we may speak with her as well.
Commander Leonhart will lead this particular expedition with a team of four volunteers.
[Cid gives a cheerful smile now, crow's feet appearing at the corners of his eyes.]
Is there anyone interested in joining him?
[ooc; As you all remember this, four SeeDs were asked for and only four signed up. There's no need for an actual draw; if you signed up your character in the OOC post, simply have them respond IC here. :) Remember - action tags or log-format are both acceptable, and for any who wish to speak with the Headmaster, don't be shy. Any questions or concerns, send them our way via PM and we'll respond ASAP.]

If not, it would just lead to persecutions much like his own upon every off-worlder in Garden. He can't have that.
Raises his hand silently once the Headmaster asked for volunteers. There was no hesitation in his decision.]
no subject
It's probably some poor kid dumped here by time compression. Count me in.

Only when Edge speaks does Squall lower the papers and lift his head, looking over at the pair who have volunteered so far.
A curt nod, acknowledging their participation, and then he looks at the Headmaster.]
no subject
Wonderful!
[He pauses, peering over at Shadow from over top of his glasses.]
I do have one concern, however, SeeD Shadow. The people are already wary of a sorceress who they believe to have supernatural powers, and the presence of another who obviously is not of a species they are used to might evoke some alarm from them as well.
Although... this might be a chance to show the natives that not all off-worlders mean them harm.
[The Headmaster brings a hand up to stroke his chin in thought, nodding, deciding that he'll allow Shadow to join the mission.]
no subject
Well aware, sir. If anything, I wouldn't mind scouting around the area where the supposed Sorceress is said to be.
[In his world, seeing someone like Shadow, or Sonic, wouldn't be out of the ordinary. Here, they'd probably stone him. Best not to ruffle their feathers too much unless necessary.]
no subject
So! We're going with the theory this chick's just been displaced, like everyone else, right? No problem, but what happens if these these villagers are right, and she is one of these sorceresses?
We can't just leave her near a bunch of people who hate her. The next thing we know, it'll all be pitchforks!
no subject
[Leaning back in his chair with the casual air of one who'd just come up with a statement of pure brilliance, and expected everyone else to gasp in amazement.]/small>
no subject
We're trying to find the truth, right? We can't just decide "this person isn't a concern, but her safety is" already.
no subject
[He turns towards Headmaster and politely nods at him] Headmaster, count me in. This sounds like something my group did back home.
no subject
Passing her off as an off-worlder will be tricky. But we're going to do everything we can to find out something.
no subject
Right, right. Just saying, y'know, let's not hit conclusions already - we've not even started yet!
I'm getting bored, so I wouldn't mind tagging along and seeing what's up.
EDIT
We need to see if the rumors are true, first. If there is a Sorceress, then we need to protect the citizens first and deal with her. If not, we may need to protect that person before the citizens decide to take matters into their own hands.
[Looks over to Edge]
Zelos is right. Passing her off as an off-worlder seems feasible, but difficult to prove, especially if they will just lie about it to use us and do more damage later on. They could still be a Sorceress in disguise.
[In other words, it pays to be paranoid.]
no subject
So we've pretty much decided that we won't decide what to do until we get there and see it for ourselves? Fine by me.
... But I'd have to disagree about proving that someone's an off-worlder. It's actually not that difficult if you know what you're looking for. [He's bluffing a little here, but years of working with the JSA and the superhero world in general's been mainly "let's go defeat people from the past/another world/another dimension/someplace-that-is-not-Earth!" so Tom's way more sympathetic to this kind of thing.]
no subject
[He waves a hand at all the talking.]
If some girl's out there in trouble, I plan to help. Sorceress or off-worlder, that's just the right thing to do. And isn't it better to be nice no matter what? How we act towards the girl will make a big difference.

[Though even if he didn’t say anything out loud, if anyone looked at him his expression may show at least some of his thoughts. As well as his body language. He had his arms and legs crossed, foot shaking over his knee as a means to let go of some of his energy and some of his emotions without saying anything.]
[Just who did these people think they were? Not only had all of them been in Garden a shorter amount of time than him, but to his knowledge they were also new to this world for that time as well! None of them knew about what some of the past sorceress did. None of them knew first-hand how it was like with Sorceress Ultimecia like he and his friends did. Yet here they were talking about... protecting this unknown sorceress. And all Zell can think of is if it really is Ultimecia. Why the hell would they want to protect her!?]
[Damn! He should be going... not these new people!]
[But he knew that his ‘mission’ was just as important... he understood... but he wanted Squall to tell him if it was her! He and Quistis and Rinoa... they had a right to know! He glanced at Squall. Yeah, he was pretty sure he’d tell them if it was. They all went through too much together for Zell to think that he wouldn’t.]
no subject
Zell's restrained energy and emotions d0 come as a surprise, but Cid is just overall pleased to have the energetic youth back in Garden once again, mentally making a note to have a word with him later.
The Headmaster absently shuffles through his documents and then clears his throat.]
Then it's decided? [He peers around the table at everyone from over the tops of his glasses.] Instructors Bronson and Wilder along with SeeDs Edge and Shadow will accompany Commander Leonhart to Winhill, correct?
no subject
[Nodding to confirm, Squall looks at the four members of his team and then over at Zell, catching the glance thrown his way. He doesn't say anything, only nods. He may not be a mind reader but from their earlier talk in the cafeteria... Squall can easily figure out why Zell's antsy.]
