Father father please believe me (closed)

Character(s): Egypt (Hassan), Damian Razem (Robin)
Location: A103 (Egypt's room)
Rating: PG for Damian's language
Open/Closed/Finished: Closed
Summary: (Damian's bit is backdated to before the Ottoman Empire visit; Egypt's bit sometime after the visit) Figures these two'd learn each other's secrets eventually: Damian admits he's a superhero while Hassan confesses to being a country.

After that afternoon and the supposed acid trip he didn't remember, Robin didn't know how else to talk to Hassan. His ahki deserved more than taking care of him - and seriously, his other self HAD to call them a rainbow couple - and more than being a classmate. But what else could Damian do? Not much of anything, especially if he couldn't fight.

In retrospect, climbing into Hassan's room through the window may not have been the smartest idea, but he hadn't gotten the chance to change out of his costume after patrols. Softly closing the window so that Hassan's roommate wouldn't wake up, Robin carefully adjusted his goggles and glanced around the room.

"Ahki---" Right. The voice distorter was still on. Maybe he should turn it off?

"Err---Hassan? Do you have a moment?"

It is because he's a kid. Egypt admires his sense of right and wrong, his desire to help people, but—

"—Damian." The name comes out a bit too stressed; he pauses a moment to take a breath and calm his nerves. In the silence, he cups the side of Damian's face with both hands, then tries again with a softer voice.

"You're scaring me."

Let's try this again. Use your words, Egypt. That's what you do when you have something important to say. You speak when it counts.

After he thinks on what to say and what to avoid (the complete truth would probably rile Damian up even more), Egypt speaks, voice still soft, gaze fixed on his surrogate s— brother.

"You're important." Egypt means it; his words are earnest. "I want you safe." Capable or incapable of fighting crime, it doesn't matter. He doesn't want Damian in harm's way.

Yes, really. Egypt watches him with an unreadable expression for a moment or two before sighing, a soft sound that's more tired than he wants to let on. "Go t'bed. Talk tomorrow."

He won't remind Damian that he was breaking and entering (not to mention invading Egypt's privacy), but he will remind the kid of his need for a good night's rest. Egypt needs some shut, eye, too. He, on the other hand, isn't used to late-night patrols and stakeouts. He'll be able to both think and speak more clearly in the morning.

"Ah-ah." Egypt stands and hooks his fingers around the yellow hood, gently tugging Damian away from the window. He gestures towards the door of his bedroom; looks like he intends on escorting the kid to his room personally.

No more sneaking in and out of windows — at least while Egypt is around.
