We were not strangers, but there was a journey

Characters: Aqualad/Kaldur'ahm, Artemis, Kid Flash/Wally, Miss Martian/M'gann, Robin/Dick, Superboy/Conner

Location: On the way to Esthar
Rating: T for action/violence (and C for potential Crack).
Open/Closed/Etc: Closed
Summary: While off to see the ~~wizards~~ scientists in Esthar, The Team encounters a few rocky spots, nothing serious. Powers acting up, losing part of the team, a dinosaur--no big deal.

Kaldur has not been exactly sure how useful this trip would be, as he believed that if others had been here for so long, then they would have asked the very questions his friends wanted to ask. At the same time, a chance is still a chance--and he would not have dissuaded them either way, so it was better to join them than deny them--and so here they were, about to strike out on this new journey.

But the fact that their powers were being affected by whatever disruption was occurring left him wondering if their timing could have been better.

"Let's go already! The longer we stick around here, the longer I have to deal with all of these annoying feelings."

Not to mention, everything felt so slooow to him. He was used to the world running a 100mph. Now it's barely crawling by. Plus, he's had more insight into people's emotions than he ever cares to have. Siiigh. Not to mention, a certain someone seemed to inherit his speed, which has left him feeling -veeerrryy-- annoyed.

"I wish I had my Bioship here; it would make the trip a lot easier."

M'gann stood waiting for the rest of the group, a slight flush to her cheeks. She isn't sure why, but recently she'd been feeling rather unwell, even a bit feverish. Nonetheless she tried her best to maintain a smile around her friends, glad that they were all together now.

"Seriously, why couldn't have that been brought here in the time stream as well? Whoever this so called sorceress is, she sucks."

Grumbles and folds his arms across his chest. In the midst of his grumbling, he picks up on the color in her cheek. He can also sense her struggling to try and keep up appearance. The frown on his face disappears and is replaced with a concerned look.

"M'Gann, is everything okay?"

The fact that Wally noticed her current state had M'gann flushing further; she didn't want the others to be concerned. So in an attempt to hide her sickly state, M'gann forced a smile on her lips as she gave a nod in Wally's direction.

"I'm fine, really! It's just been a bit unusually warm in Garden lately, that's all."

Unfortunately for M'gann, or maybe fortunately in her case, there was no hiding how she was feeling from him. The longer he was around her, the easier it was for him to make out how she was feeling. Anyone who was putting that much effort into trying to keep something hidden, was definitely not "okay".

"Yeah, I guess. But It hasn't been -that- hot. Are you sure you're going to be okay for going on the trip? If you get tired, you can let me know and I'll give you a piggy back ride or something."

Wally's concern was appreciated, and it was evident in the way she gave him a warm smile.

"Thanks, Wally. I'll be sure to let you know, but I'm fine for now."

Still has his doubts but lets it go for now. Because, hey, they have adventure awaiting them and he's pretty geeked about it! Plus, if anything else happens, he'll be able to pick up on it.

"Gotcha. I don't know about you, but I'm pretty psyched about this trip. If I can get my hands on some of their equipment or talk to their scientists, I think I can help get them closer to our technology."

Has anyone seen my mask?

[Robin looks disgruntled today. Another piece of his costume went missing when he woke up, despite keeping an extremely close eye on it, almost Batman-like. Good thing he still has those shades he wears to class, but they aren't the same.]

[The only part of his outfit that remains now is the yellow utility belt, which is currently slung over one shoulder. No one gets to touch it. Touch it and die.]

[Kaldur can sense the tension, shaking his head.]

No. Perhaps the staff in charge of laundering clothes found it? [He knows better than to imply Robin may have lost it.]

[It has been fine for some time, nothing too strenuous. Kaldur had been alert, but a dinosaur right in their path has not been what he expected. And then it attacked.]

[The Dinosaur was coming, but it wasn't there just yet. Or maybe it was very close but a couple of the team members were too busy arguing with each other to notice how much danger they were in.

Wally was about ready to pull his hair out. The only thing worse than losing his powers, was losing his powers and Artemis gaining them! If he saw her speed around one more time, he was going to throw his foot out to try and trip her. Not the most gentleman like or team mate like move to make, but in his mind, he was well justified to do so.

Shoots Artemis an aggravated glare.]

Dude, seriously, stop showing off!

Jealous, Kid Slow?

[So maybe she's purposefully going out of her way to annoy him. In fact, it might even be "how badly can she piss off Wally" day in her opinion.]

Because you're looking kinda sluggish. Think I've seen snails and grandmas that move faster than you.

[All the speeding around right now, all of it. Because Artemis apparently never learns her lesson, and she's still trying to keep certain thoughts off her mind. It's been how long and she's still thinking about the festival? Clearly the solution for thinking too much about kissing someone is to spend all your time aggravating him, right?]

[That dinosaur? Starting to get a whooolle lot closer. It's like a scene straight out of Jurassic Park. The ground is starting to shake ever so slightly, ripples can be seen in any near by water. Normally, Wally would be on top of that. But right now he was too busy taking a step closer to Artemis.]

You know that's not true! This is not going to last forever and when our powers come back, I'm going to serve a big ol' slice of humble pie to your face!

[Artemis could also be doubling as a certain actor, because she is winning. He's starting to pick up on some of those uncertain emotions, as well as her denial. That being said, it the actual emotion is not registering with him just yet.]

[Artemis doesn't notice the dinosaur's approach. Probably because that dinosaur isn't a certain obnoxious red head who's currently got all of her attention.]

Kid Snail. Slow Kid? No wait, I got it. Slow Boy! [She smirks, dark eyes glittering with challenge.] Yeah? If something happened and this didn't go away you'd be sorry. I'd say I'd make you eat your words, but you don't seem to have much of an appetite lately.

[Artemis would make a great actor. She really would! She's so good at this acting stuff she's almost got herself convinced. Sadly thee key word there is almost as in she knows better.]

[Stupid Wally. Why did she have to go and like someone so frustrating, narrow sighted, and stupid? Her luck sucks.]

[Okay, now he's starting to pick up on those feelings. Which is going through his annoyed filter at the moment. Under normal circumstances, he'd actually show some maturity and ask her what was going on. Maybe even admit some of his own feelings and how he's replayed that kiss more than once or twice in his head.

Instead, he's red in the face and ready to explode.]

Seriously, what is your problem?! You're sitting here being really, really, reaaally annoying, and then you've having all of these feelings for me! News flash; guys don't dig it when girls annoy the heck out of them!

[Oh yeah. Smooth one Wally, because rubbing her face into facts she's still struggling with is totally a good idea.]

[So the denial continues. Speeding up to right in front of him, she narrows her eyes and gives him a good shove.]

Look. I don't know what you think you're feeling, but you have no idea how I feel. Got that?

To think that I would even think about having feelings for a guy who's as arrogant [Cute], stubborn, [Intelligent], and obnoxious [Dependable] as you is just....ridiculous!

[She throws her hands up in the air only to process the fact that shoving him has put her right up in his personal bubble. Oh.]

[Really she knows exactly how she feels. Sadly her heart seems to be ignoring that memo and doing whatever it darn well pleases. Which really sucks especially when Kid Oblivious suddenly ends up with magical emotion feel powers and can pick up on that sort of thing.]

[Yup. Her life sucks.]

[The push made Kid Oblivious go to Kid In the Know. The contact revs up his powers, and those feelings she is having become very clear to him. He blinks a couple of takes and stares at her.]

Wait...wait...hold up!

[Holds up one finger in front of him, motioning for her to silence. Granted, the gesture isn't going to win him any points, but he needs a moment to process all of this. Okay, she is telling him one thing but the feelings he is picking up from her are telling him another story.

And it's also making him very aware of his own feelings. He drops his hand and gives her a confused look. The confused look eventually begins to transform into down right shocked look as he realizes what all this means.

Just give him a moment...]

[As he holds up a finger, her eyes narrow. The fact that she automatically assumes he just wants a moment to come up with some way to mock her is probably all too telling.]

[That said she actually complies for the most part. Taking a step back she folds her arms across her chest and waits.]

Fine. What is it now, Wally? [On second thought, she hopes this does revert eventually if just because having him know exactly how she feels about things is pretty close to her idea of hell. So yeah, if it means getting rid of the empathy? He can have his powers back.]

I'm not in the mood for more of your crap.

[Not that she ever really is, but that's not the point.]

[Okay, okay. He's got this...he knows exactly what he wants to say!

Except for the part where he doesn't at all.]

No, no. I...

[She might have more defenses in place than the batcave, but she can't hide her feelings for his new found powers. On the plus side for her, she's not the only one who has feelings for the others.

Just as he's starting to work the words in his mouth, his mind suddenly accelerates and he feels his body get a sudden burst of energy.]

BOOYAH! MY SPEED IS BACK!

[All those thoughts and feelings? Totally being ignored. Now that the world has slowed down and his senses are in high gear, he spots the dinosaur approaching them.

Thumbs to himself.]

Watch how a -real- speedster gets things done.

[Zoom!]

[It's probably a good thing that he's just a speedster right now, because so much hate ma. So much hate.]

Sure. Fine. Whatever. I hope the dinosaur tramples you.

[Also a whole lot of linefacing, Wally why are you such a jerk. Whatever, it's not like she'd been hoping to find out he had feelings for her or anything, because it's not like she cares about him in the first place. That's clearly just his power glitching. That's all.]

[Wally speeds towards the dinosaur, getting ready to trip him up so the rest of the team can get to work.

And then something funny happens.

Just as he's about to barrel into the dinosaur's legs, he goes from 75mph to puttering along. He stumbles into the dinosaurs leg and bounces off of it.]

Owww.

[Rubs his face and then looks up at the dinosaur. Uh oh, before he even has the chance to yell, the tail comes flying at him. It might have been game over for him if Superboy hadn't stepped in. Instead, Superboy tackles him and the two go sailing over the ledge of the cliff.

The t-rex turns around and faces the rest of the team. They'll have to get past the t-rex in order to get to KF and Superboy.]

[In which Superboy and Kid Flash have their own reasons to hate this trip.]

[In which Robin discovers the power of magical ~~girls~~ boys and everyone is ~~killed~~ dazzled.]

[Ever want to see Robin really mad? No? Too bad, team, because you get to see it riiiight now. It's somewhere between leaving Balamb and transitioning to Esthar that his treasured utility belt, which Boy Wonder had been clinging to for dear life long before the start of the mission — disappeared. He had taken a quick nap ~~as growing boys do need~~, belt acting like a security blanket, and then bam, gone.]

[He's been freaking out for who knows how long; it was initially a quiet panic, something quickly escalating that Wally would have picked up on first. Piece by piece, his particular hero uniform had been disappearing over the course of a week or so. Confusing, frustrating, and a major inconvenience, yeah. Batman would disapprove so hard, but as long as he had the belt, Robin was confident that he could keep his cool and still do what he does best. Minus the hacking. Okay, so his high tech gloves vanishing into thin air was painful, but as long as he had the belt...]

[Said belt which is now gone. Last straw, guys. Last straw. To add more "dis" to this complete fucking disaster, someone thought it would be funny to replace his belt with a girly-looking wand. Points for matching his Robin colors exactly, but it was still girly, with a stylized planet ornament on top and faint sparkle in the surface. Girly and useless.]

What am I supposed to do with this?! [Robin's shoving the wand in their faces, and his look of disgust and disappointment would be so hilarious if it weren't for the serious problems this poses.] "Moon Prism Power"?

[He idly notices a symbol etched into the wand's handle, then corrects himself with heavy sarcasm.] Oh, sorry, Saturn Prism Power—

[And then everything around Robin suddenly gets bright. Bright and vaguely sparkly. When the unseen henshin sequence is complete and the light fades, the team is graced with the presence of a well-dressed and fully equipped... [Finally, Boy Wonder shuts up.]

[Gaping and gaping and gaping..

....and now busting out in laughter. Sorry, Robin. None of your questions are going to be answered by Wally. He's doubled over in laughter.]

Dude! [Robin gapes back at him after looking down at his new costume. Oh god. The shorts are so... short. He holds onto the new glaive in his hands to refrain from trying to shut his so-caled friend up. LAUGHING IS NOT HELPING.]

[This is karma biting him in the ass for all the times he made fun of KF in the past, isn't it?]

Come on! Dude, you -know- if our positions were reversed, you'd be cracking up as well.

[Yes, Karma has finally caught up with Robin. Wally will never forget this glorious moment. It's the first time since he lost his powers, that he hasn't though about losing his powers. So hey, if nothing else, Robin's being a bro and cheering his pal up!]

[He stops. Kaldur literally freezes in place. He does not know what to say or how to react. There is a bubbling sensation in his chest, like an itch he can't scratch, but he doesn't give into. He knows it would be very inappropriate.]

Robin...!

[It's a very bad thing when Aqualad has to fight for composure. Stay strong, leader!]

[Robin looks helpless for the moment. ~~Looking pretty good in the shorts, too.~~ He gapes at Aqualad in a "HELP ME" kind of manner, but how the heck would he even help with this? Clutching at the new sailor shirt, aaagh.]

This was not part of the mission plan...!

[He will! It is a test of his true strength.]

I do not believe most of this is part of the mission plan. We should regroup at a new location to...discuss this.

[Artemis might not seem the type, but she's actually quite familiar with certain icons of the animated world. Which makes sense consider her love for Alice in Wonderland among other things. So naturally the sight of her team mate turning into a Sailor Scout of all things is pretty out there.]

[What sort of world is this even? Of course instead of admitting that she's geeky enough to find this cool the first thing out of her mouth is, rather predictably...]
