Just an innocent weapons demonstration... or is it?
Character(s): Rinoa, Merlin, and Arthur
Location: In and around the training center
Rating: PG-13 tops? I dunno.
Open/Closed/Finished: Closed
Summary: Explaining gunblades and blaster edges to offworlders is hard. It's easier to just show them.
Note: Backdated like woah because I fail
With a duffel bag full of blaster edge models over one shoulder and her gunblade safe in it's hilt at her waist, Rinoa stood near the Training Center doors waiting for Merlin and Arthur (or as she'd already begun to think of him - that knight Merlin babysits).
Why a duffel bag full of weapons? It was simple really her current model had kind of a whimsical design. Showing some of the more functional looking ones as well would probably leave a better impression in the long run. At least that's what she's hoping for anyway, it's not like she's used to giving weapon demonstrations. Para-magic ones somewhat, weapons ones? Not so much.
Which was probably why she'd made sure to arrive several minutes early, so she'd have at least a few minutes to figure out just what on earth she was doing.

"She said she had one that's like a projectile with a sword on it," Merlin was saying as they arrived. "Don't ask me how that can work, but then I guess knights will just look for any excuse to put a blade on anything..."
Spotting Rinoa, Merlin grinned and waved cheerfully. "Rinoa! This Sir Arthur of Camelot. Arthur, this is..." Merlin trailed off, floundering. What was Rinoa's title? Was she a noble? A knight? A peasant? "Lady Rinoa?" he said, half inquiring.
Sorry for being so late. :(
"Merlin!" She smiled and waved back cheerfully, genuinely happy to see him. Of course his question alone was more than enough reason to turn her happy smile into a more amused one.
"Just Rinoa, please. I've never been fond of titles and formalities."
As the daughter of one of Galbadia's most powerful men, she probably was on par with nobility for her world ironically, not to mention the Forest Owl's stubborn insistence on calling her Princess. However, she doesn't like admitting her relationship to Caraway and she absolutely hated it when the Owls called her that.
"I guess you could call me SeeD Heartilly, but I'd really rather you didn't." So that meant technically she worked as a knight too even by Camelot's standards... if you ignored the whole awkward part about how there had likely never been a female knight in Camelot before anyway.
"It's nice to meet you Arthur." She held out her hand for a handshake.
I was late too, it's okay /sob
He remained silent long enough for Merlin to introduce him (without the king part, as he'd instructed). As for Rinoa, he sensed that she was at least of some standing, especially considering SeeD status seemed roughly equivalent to being a knight. It was true that he'd never actually seen a female knight, but then, SeeDs weren't actually knights, after all. Just... like them.
"Likewise, it's a pleasure." He took the offered hand, though rather than shake it, he briefly leaned down to kiss it.
if only you guys had told Merlin, he would have slept in! >:
With the long suffering suppressed sigh of a servant who's used to standing around waiting for nobles to hurry up with all their formalities and get on with it, Merlin waited in the background while Arthur kissed Rinoa's hand.
Not as late as I was!
"So Knights really do things like that. I thought that was just in books." She smiled and withdrew her hand as if she were used to that sort of thing. Inwardly she was doing some serious fangirling and already trying to figure out just how to tell her friends about this little episode. Behavior like this was way too cute not to gossip about after all.
Glancing over at Merlin her lips twitched up at the corners yet again. It would seem his existence alone was enough to make her amused at this rate.
"Now that we're all here, why don't we head into the Training Center? Have either of you visited it yet?"

"Not as such. It seems a dangerous thing, to keep strange creatures locked up indoors in this way."

...Which probably meant that with Arthur here now, he was probably going to find himself dragged to training all the time again. (Damn...)
"How do you make sure that they don't escape?" he asked - keeping dangerous creatures locked up stuck him as odd too, although a memory of the great dragon chained up beneath Camelot flashed through his mind for a moment.

"I'm not sure about the exact mechanics, but I think they've only escaped from the training center twice. The power was out one of those times, so I'm guessing it's something that's done electronically and I don't know much about that stuff." She turned and offered Arthur a small smile. "And you have to remember, they're not strange creatures here. They're normal monsters from the local area."
She started to walk then, adjusting the strap on her duffel bag absently.
"I'll give you the grand tour while we're at it. Come on."
