Summary: Rapunzel had asked on the BBS who wanted to come explore Dollet, and she had earlier arranged to do a field trip of sorts with Damian, intending to make the most of the break and new environment.

Rapunzel fully intended to make the most of this trip and the break from classes while they were at Dollet. She had barely traveled back home, only having been from the tower to Corona before arriving at the Garden. To find that the Garden could move like that was just amazing and the implications of seeing so much more of this world excited Rapunzel nearly beyond words. There was so much she could see and learn and do here. She had her hair braided and hanging down near her ankles so it wouldn't be as much of an issue at least, and was waiting at the foyer for those who had mentioned wanting to explore the town while they were here.

"Yes! I am. I figure we should make the most of it while we can!"

Rapunzel exclaimed excitedly, clearly eager to get out and explore this new place the Garden had arrived at and make the most of it while they were on break from classes.

"I guess you are too, huh?"

She smiled a little distantly. "Going home, actually. But if you're interested in exploring, so long as we go past there at some point, I don't mind showing you around."

"Really? That would be great!" Rapunzel gave a smile at the girl's offer to show her around.

"It was you then, that I talked to on the BBS earlier about the trip here?" She was sure she remembered one person mentioning they had lived there before coming to the Garden. It was handy to have a local, they would know where everything was, after all.

"As far as I know, I'm the only one who grew up here," she said, smiling wistfully. "There aren't many of us locals here compared to off-worlders, are there?"

"Not that I've noticed. There are a lot of us from elsewhere, from what I've gathered with the Time Compression." she mused, bringing her hair over her shoulder and running her hand over it out of habit.

She shook her head, an odd, bemused expression on her face, before shrugging. "Well, I'm from here, and I may have had Time Compression problems of my own, but it's still home."

"Problems with the arrival of all these people from different worlds and times? I can see that would cause some issues. We're lucky the Garden is helping out as much as it is with all of us." Rapunzel said thoughtfully. Home. It used to be the safety of the tower, at the moment it was Garden but then, it would be the castle of Corona. She still was not entirely sure how to take that. She'd deal with that when the time came, she supposed.

"Oh no, I meant more directly," she said with a little laugh. "I lost ten years to Time Compression between Dollet and Balamb. Cities seem to be a little safer from it, I think, but once I left..."

She shrugged. How do you really put words to everything you know aging ten years while you were away for a a fifteenth of that at best?

"I can't even begin to imagine.....so you lost ten years when you came from Dollet to the Garden initially?" Everyone else being ten years older, having ten years worth of memories you didn't have....it sounded quite confusing and scary to Rapunzel. Sure, the tower had been isolated, but even so, she didn't think it was that bad.

"Yes. I'm just grateful I didn't lose any more." No lie. She had been worried that it would, again, happen somehow on the way back. Not very worried, but worried nonetheless.

"Yeah, I can understand that. I'm still getting my head around that Eugene remembers more that happened back home than I do, and that's nowhere near as long as ten years I've missed."

"I'm not sure I have the right to complain. This is at least still my world. I wanted to come to Garden and be a cadet for years and years and years. It's not like I had to just to be safe from the outside world..."

She couldn't ever hate offworlders. She'd spent too much time among them and come to understand that they weren't any different from normal people. Looking at Dollet now, she realized that the distance she'd traveled from it was more than just time and space.

"Well, you didn't travel as far as we might have, but still....ten years is a long time. At least, from what I've gathered, when we go back home we're returned to the same time so it is like we never left. You missed out on those years....." Rapunzel murmered, empathizing, she could only imagine such a situation even if she had spent years of her life wanting to go outside the tower.

"Safe?" The word reminded her of Gothel, all her 'mother' had done over the years and she pursed her lips, but it wasn't a topic she talked to everyone about.

"As safe as can be. I know some of the students there are not exactly the most welcoming..." She pursed her lips, biting back a few more choice comments on that trio of girls that saw no problem in being so vocal. "But at least no one there is trying to kill you for being a Sorceress."

"There is that, yes. Here, I've been able to feel more comfortable showing others my hair and it's power, and using it to help others. Which is more than I can say for back home at least." Rapunzel didn't really see that the outside world was all as bad as Gothel had kept trying to tell her, (un?)fortunately.

"Your hair?"

This is the first Maria had heard of hair having power, and though she didn't doubt for a second that it was both possible and true, she was no less curious for that.

"Yeah. It.....I can use it to heal people. It glows when I sing and I can keep people young. Stop them from aging." Rapunzel explained, still perhaps a little uncertain and nervous at telling the other but getting more used to the idea of people knowing. Of it being okay.

Startled, though not exactly surprised, by this description, Maria leaned sideways a little to get a better look at the hair in question -- as if it would somehow look more mystical than it had just a moment ago. "That's pretty impressive! Is there a reason for that, do you know?"

"Well, it was a flower, that grew from a drop of sun. My mother was sick so they went to find it and I inherited the flower's healing powers when I was born, I guess." Rapunzel explained briefly from what Eugene had told her, tucking some hair back behind her ear.

"Wow... That sounds like something out of a storybook!" she said with a bright smile. "I hope your world is as wonderful as it sounds, if it has flowers from the sun like that. It sounds beautiful."

"It...it wasn't so bad. I mean, Mother kept telling me how scary it was outside, but when I went out of the tower it wasn't so bad at all." Well, there were some less enjoyable parts, but overall Rapunzel had found that she believed Gothel was wrong about the world, that it was not all that dangerous and scary.

"As far as I am aware though, the flower was kind of unique."

"That's always how it happens, parents worry like crazy about their child leaving the nest, so to speak," she said, seeing nothing sinister about it all. "Like we're just going to curl up and die, or be attacked by a hundred monsters!"

"You think so?" Rapunzel guessed she wouldn't know, it was hard to imagine what other mothers might be like. They probably all were protective of their children to an extent, but possibly not quite to the extreme of keeping them locked away in towers. From what she had gathered, at least.

"Or ruffians and thugs? But the ones I met didn't seem so bad...."

"Well, around here we have to worry about the monsters more and thieves less, outside of town. As you may have noticed," she added with a smile. "Did they have cars where you came from?"

"Well, yes. But I haven't gone too far from Garden yet. They didn't have cars in Corona, no. But I've seen one. The big metal boxes with wheels that stop at those lights, right?" Rapunzel remembered seeing them and staring with Merlin at the new and strange sight.

"Those are cars, unless they're very large and long and are meant to carry a lot of people. Then they're buses. You're going to learn to drive one, you know," she said with a grin.

"I...I am? They're so....big! We didn't really have anything like that back home except perhaps carriages?" Rapunzel exclaimed, a little nervous at the idea but excited to learn something new all the same.

Maria nodded. "As soon as you take Defensive Driving. So long as you don't let yourself get intimidated by them, you'll do fine, though. Driving isn't anything to be afraid of."

Said the teenage girl quite accustomed to it existing...

"Right. I guess I'll see when I get to taking that class at some point." She still wasn't quite sure about it, but it did not seem she would have a choice if it was in fact a required class at the Garden.

She was a bit worried she'd scared Rapunzel just a little, and quickly tried to reassure her. "You'll do fine, don't worry. Driving is like any other physical skill. It's all a matter of practicing until you don't need to think about the intermediary steps any more."
