Dinner for Two

Summary: Champloo has invited Pinkie Pie to dinner.



Perhaps the most interesting change to the massive basement kitchen was the temperature. Champloo had actually let the giant cauldron cool -- it wasn't going to waste, since he actually intended to prepare enough gazpacho to feed the entire school later -- and so no longer was kitchen hellishly hot. Beyond that, little else was different save for the desks being pushed aside and replaced with a table set with nice but certainly not fancy flatware, and the dishes midway through preparation in the particularly large over and several countertip stove burners Champloo reserved for his personal use.

"...GREAT IDEA! Lets have burritos next time!" Random thought was random.

Champloo ignored the fact that, if one was using his metaphor, she had just proposed something terribly dirty, because there was no way in the Netherworld she'd even come close to conceiving of that. "An excellent idea! Shall we each prepare a filling?"

"Well, if we're making it together, then sure!" She'd rather make it together with different fillings than separately.

"Cooking together as well as eating together?" Champloo slapped the table in delight. "That is perfect! An excellent idea!"

"WOOOHOOO!" Pinkie gave a mighty fist pump at the approval! "When's the next dinner date?!"

"Do your classes allow you leisure? I have fewer students, so I am at your disposal, boom!"

"Uh...sure?" Like she knew. All work and no play makes Jack...erm...Pinkie crazy.

"Then let us meet three days from now. Will that be enough time for simmering?"

"YOU BETCHA!" More time with Chammy! "HURRAY!" She'll have to find something to simmer, now.

"Hyahyahya, ahyhyahya!" He rose from his seat with a smile, then bowed to her. "It has been a tasty delight to host you, Pinkie."

She smiled and stood from her chair as well, taking her plate int he motion. "It won't be the laaaaast!" She went back over to the pie and cut a larger piece. Take out food!

"No, it will not," Champloo said, gathering up the dishes. "I enjoy spending time with you far too much for that to happen."

Pinkie would hug him, but she's holding pie. As he gathered the dishes, Pinkie was inching on her second helping.

"D'u u 'ee euwp?"

Translation: Do you need help?

"No need, Pinkie. Cooking is about all parts of the process! To take the dishes away is as important as serving them to begin with!" Cooking was about an awful lot of things, when you were Champloo.

Pinkie should learn to follow such a rule. She tended to just leave things til the morning. Or let the janitors handle it.

"If you're sure." It seemed weird to let Chammy do the dishes after he cooked, but it was his kitchen...

"When it comes to cooking, have you ever known me to be unsure?" He balanced the plates easily and carefully, sauntering over to the largest of the many sinks.

Well, he had a point. She laughed before shaking her head. "NOPE! You're surer than chocolate rain!"

And that was pretty darn sure!

"A few thousand years of training will have that effect." He dunked the dishes into the water, then moved down to scoop up the dishes he had prepared. Waste not want not, after all; he began transferring entrees to containers.
