Summary: Cadets incur trouble after a certain BBS post

[Oh dear. This was a fine mess. With one cadet incapacitated, another roomless, and another that has a problem with authority...

Cid takes his glasses off and rubs the bridge of his nose quietly. With a sigh, he calls the party in to begin negotiation.]

[Squall enters first and gives Cid a brief nod and a "Sir" in greeting. He moves to stand to the side near Cid's desk and waits for the others, eyes on the door.

He already gave the Headmaster their files including the documentation of the entry and threads. It's just a matter of discussion at this point.]

[Rin is quiet as she enters, though her chin is held high and her arms are stiff at her sides while she takes a stand a few feet from the desk. Getting in trouble is not her favorite thing in the world, not to mention lectures are boring.

A look at Squall then back to Cid again. They definitely look like lecture types.]

[Rise keeps her chin high as she enters the room, her posture impeccable. Her full attention is on Cid.]

Cadets, at ease.

[He indicates for them to both take a seat.]

You realize why you've been called here today, I assume?

[As per usual Squall says nothing. Unless Cid asks him directly, only then will he speak. Or unless one of the cadets throws a question at him.

He stands there still and looks between the two cadets.]

[Well, even though he says it... Rin still eyes the older man warily as she slowly eases into one of the offered seats.]

Not at all. [Not true. She definitely should have just sent it as a letter. Oh well, too late to take it back now.]

[Rise nods, smiling politely at Cid as she does so.]

I understand, headmaster.

[Cid returns the nod and moves to stand, holding his hands in front of him. Circling his desk, he comes to a stop in front of it to properly address the cadets before him.

He looks to Rin first.]

You've been called here regarding a recent post to our network's Bulletin Board System... a document titled "Discrimination of the Junior Cadets in this Garden". I hope that you won't require I read it back to you to refresh your memory?

But more specifically, regarding the behavior observed during that post. I believe you, Cadet Kagamine, were trying to express a concern with the way Garden is run? Perhaps those sorts of matters are best taken to a person of authority. In the future, I would urge to you exercise more discretion in your word choice, and to consider the reactions of your peers before making public announcements.

[He chastises her, but his tone is not angry or tired. Poor Cid just barely has it in him to lecture bright young faces.]

[At the mention of 'behavior', Squall's gaze settles on Rise. And says nothing. Cid will address her soon enough.]

[The "oh no" look on her face is apparent when Cid stops in front of her, but her head begins lowering further and further with each word he says. When he's finished she appears more like a kicked puppy than the energetic girl that posted the essay to begin with. Even if he has a gentle tone, she still hates getting in trouble so much.]

Yes, sir... [is the mumbled response before her gaze slides over to Rise beside her. Aah, even worse, she never meant to get the other girl in trouble either.]

[Feeling the distress that is coming off of Rin in near-tangible waves, Rise reaches out and takes the other girl's hand in one of her own. She doesn't make a show of the gesture, but the support is there.]

[Well now he just feels like an ogre. He sighs, focusing on Rin yet again.]

So long as you understand, you are dismissed.

[And he turns his attention to Rise, whom he will address as soon as they have privacy.]

[Rise lets go of Rin's hand, offering a small smile as she does so. And then, steeling herself - she's not afraid of that ape in the corner, she can do this - she turns her attention back to Cid.]

[Oh! What's this - Squall shifts his weight from one foot to the other and watches Rin before he focuses his attention back on the other girl.]

[She smiles at Rise, returning the hand squeeze before she lets go and she's been dismissed.] Good luck. [It's a quick whisper to the other before she's out of her seat and - after giving Squall a disapproving, "don't you be mean" look - leaves the room in a hurry.]

[As the door closes behind Rin, he addresses Rise.]

As for you, it's much the same. I understand that you only wish to express your opinions, and we encourage that. But I urge you to understand that your words may have serious consequences should you not choose them with more care.

[They already have had serious consequences, but he isn't at liberty to release that kind of information.]

I get that I was a little harsh with Shakespeare, but it was because talking to that first guy really pushed my buttons, sir. He was attacking Rin for speaking her mind, and I got carried away... I'm sorry.

[Squall sent a glance in Cid's direction. He was going to speak up now, say a 'few' things on the situation with Abel given the damages done to the dorm room shortly after the post had been posted.] If Cadet Abel has experience with war, who are you to question this? It's not something you should joke about. Your comments towards him were unnecessary, even inappropriate.

As for the post, Cadet Kagamine was under the impression that anyone should be allowed to pilot Garden. Child and adult alike. There's a reason for why Garden offers Specialized Courses in Piloting. And there's also a reason for why older cadets are granted more privileges than the younger cadets.

[Cid is still while Rise talks, but nods ever so slightly while Squall speaks, as though considering for himself what the young Commander is saying.]

Cadet Kujikawa, you have yet to take the requisite self-defense course, but I hope you can answer this question for me. If you are under attack, which defense makes more sense? Assessing the situation calmly, and then reacting, or lifting any weapon at hand and charging directly at your attacker?
