Tell me you love me. [CLOSED]

Character(s): Grell, Marco, and Espio (if he wants to pop in)
Location: some hallway late at night?
Rating: PG13 for fake blood, feelings, a scene that looks violent but isn't. Ironically.
Open/Closed/Finished: Closed
Summary: Espio, of all people, made good quality fake blood. Now Grell is using it to torment Marco.

The scene was small, but gruesome to the eye. To the inexperienced, it looked as if something violent had occurred, if the thick, dark red color on the walls and floor were any indication. It was a beautiful mural of DEATH, and the victim, who wore a purple nightgown, lay crumpled and lifeless at a weird angle next to the weapon that was supposedly used. There wasn't a place of impact, but would anyone really be looking for it?

Probably not.

One of the wonderful things about reapers was their lack of breathing. Grell played the perfect victim in that she had no pulse, nor did her chest move. All she had to do was wait for the right person to come along. She had told Marco she was going for a late shower. That was an hour ago.

"No," Marco answered, still holding onto the squirming chameleon. "If I can do this to my shark brother twice my size, you don't have a much better chance of escaping than Namur did, eh."

A small sigh. Espio had to know by now that Marco's answer to the end of the Special Zone was that Marco would just take him back to the Grand Line with him. But it was hardly the same. Or enough.

"You'll be a fine teacher matey, what are you worrying about it for?"
espio: (cautious)

Marco's words were of no deterrence, and Espio just kept on struggling. "I'm not worried! My competence as a teacher isn't even an issue!"

"Then what is?" Struggle as he might, Marco still wasn't going to let go yet.
espio: (erk!)

"I practically just spelled it out to you! You figure it out and tell me!"

Because Espio couldn't just make it easy. No. That would mean talking about his feelings - as far as he was concerned, he'd already done more than enough of that.

Besides...

"And anyway, I was doing fine until you came in and started taking everything way too seriously - I mean, sure, Grell took advantage, but even so that's what I'd expect from Furor!"

Marco coolly arches an eyebrow. "Did you just compare me to a marine?" Cop. Whatever.

"I'm not taking it more seriously than I take everything else." He just overreacted a little since he doesn't deal with getting scared. Really doesn't do well with it.

"No, I compared you to a guy with a stick up his arse," Espio answered, bluntly, and taking the opportunity to steer the conversation back to the gloopy red mess, instead of whatever the hell his problem was. "I told you the whole soap opera bit had nothing to do with me! Take that out of it, and it's not something that should be taken seriously at all! I just had a waterballoon fight with balloons full of floury, coloured syrup, and left the mess behind to see what people had to say about it! And anyway!"

He'd finally broke an arm free from the deathgrip, and aimed a punch towards Marco's jaw.

"Don't insult him like that! He might be a cop, but he's far from being anything like your marines!"

Said Espio, who had only just declared Furor had a "stick up his arse."

"Same thing," Marco mumbled about Furor, only to grunt as Espio punched him in the jaw. His expression softened as he rubbed it, noting to himself that it was getting punched all too often by hero and justice types. He should really do something about that, but that would require less antagonizing them. Still, just as Garp was Ace's grandfather, Espio sort of looked up to Lt. Furor in a similar sense. And they were both dog cops. Go figure.

"All right, all right, I'm sorry. Though if you're so eager to defend him, why are you setting something you think will annoy him?" Or was that the point of it? To get his attention?

"I don't even care what he has to say about it! It's not like I don't annoy him all the time anyway!"

It was only Marco's utter refusal to let him go that made Espio finally stop struggling and resume normal visibility, but his colour remained the deep red-purple it had turned with his sudden outburst, and he glared at the wall. He didn't have the words to describe how annoyed he was.

"Are you going to let go now?"
fierybluebird: [Marco arching an eyebrow leaning on an arm with blue background] (Well hey there little fellow)

"Is getting you to talk to me a lost cause?" Marco did let go though, eventually climbing to his feet, though he was still frowning in thought.

Finally! Espio took a moment of his new found freedom to rub his sides, where Marco had squeezed him a bit too hard, and turned to glare at him.

"I told you - I already spelled it out! You can work out what it means yourself. In the meantime, I am going to bed."

"It doesn't mean anything if I figure it out on my own," Marco shrugged. There were things he knew about people after all, but he'd never act on them until they were willing and ready to say it for themselves. That was just how Marco rolled with his crew and family. That said, if Espio wasn't ready even after the outburst, there was only so much prodding Marco was willing to do before letting him go. Maybe with time and space however, Espio could come to it later.

Not likely, by the looks of it. "You know what? To me, it does mean something," Espio insisted, even as he was leaving, not bothering to look back.
fierybluebird: (unsure)

"Oi Espio," Marco called after him. "You're always allowed to goof off with me, eh? And if you want to make a fake zombie army, I'll help. Just so long as it's not real."
espio: (thinking)

All that earned him was one glance back with what was, for Espio, an oddly unreadable expression, before setting straight back on his course back to his dorm.
