this ain't old yeller
Characters: Eugene & you
Location: Backdated to Dollet. In Garden's Infirmary.
Rating: PG for injuries.
Open/Closed/Finished: Open.
Summary: Eugene takes care of a wounded "soldier".
Eugene was never good with medicines. He'd always paid off some minor herbalist or physician whenever he'd been seriously injured in his thieving days of yore. Any cold or flu caught would be dealt with through staying put and trying to self-administer simple cures all on his own. He knew basic clean, cleanse, stitch and bandage (although bitterly the lessons were learnt) and the old bundle-up was never treasured more than when he'd been holed up in a cave or crooked rafter, shivering to his bones. After he started living with Rapunzel in the castle, any injuries or maladies were tended by the Castle doctor. From the doctor, he'd learnt that herbal remedies could easily cure a flu, or how something common from the dirt ground could fix an infection.
Right now, pulling at cupboards and drawers, he really wishes that the castle doctor were attending Garden as well. He would know what to do in this situation.
Lying on his side on one of the sickbeds, a lone wolf pup with a busted, red and bruised leg whimpers, his leg cushioned by a propped, red-stained pillow.
Eugene had found the injured pup near the edge of the forest in Dollet during his self-taught tour around the quaint little town, and after surmising that if he left the pup be the animal would slowly, painfully perish, he bundled the pup up in his jacket and brought him into Garden. Into the infirmary.
He'd already successfully cleaned the little critter and disinfected the leg (the wolf's fur turns out to be auburn with little patches of dark chestnut here and there). Now he's seeing to administering the antibacterial creams that will keep the wound from repeat infection in the future.

Five minutes. Touma left the infirmary for five minutes
to use the bathroomand he came back to someone bringing in a wild animal. (Sure, there were a number of illegal pets around Garden, but most of those were domesticated cats.)He made no effort to keep his disapproval out of his voice.

"...what is a 'vet'?"

Touma sighed, striding forward to inspect the wolf. While he had a phone in his office, he didn't have the Dollet phone book handy, and if this idiot had already carried the pup in from somewhere, he didn't want to disturb its injuries further by moving it again.
Ugh. Digimon were hard enough; he'd never had to deal with normal animals. At least it was a species similar to Gaomon and not, say, a bird.
"Where'd you find it?"

Eugene makes a puzzled face, a little less annoyed now that Touma is focusing on the wolf pup. He's cautious as he approaches the sickbed, reaching out and smoothing back the fur atop the pup's head. The pup makes a little keening sound, then pushes his muzzle against Eugene's palm.
"Him. He's a boy."
Eugene has never been fond of "it". Reserved for animals, lesser people, and unfortunates.
"He was near the forest edge, abandoned and injured."

She groaned, rubbing her temples as she wandered over to where he was. "Please tell me you're planning on returning him/her/it/whatever after we make it feel better."
no subject
"He. Don't call him an 'it'. And if you're gonna be critical, then at least focus that snark on the wolf."

Mostly, she'd seen monsters - and those were usually killed pretty quickly. Cissie raises her hand over the wound and murmurs, "Cura."
If nothing else, at least it'd prevent further injuries from happening in the future.

He lets out a sigh of relief as the wolf pup's whimpers lessen.
"Thanks."

There wasn't much else she could do at the moment, and with her (limited) medical knowledge, Cissie feared she'd be hurting the poor guy more than she'd be helping it. "So how'd this guy wind up in so much trouble?"
sdgidkghdg DAMMIT I MISSED THIS!!
"I think someone in Dollet went hunting and caught the little guy."
no worries ♥ things happen
"Poor guy." She sighs, then giving Eugene an apologetic smile. "This is where my medical expertise ends, so I'm gonna call Touma or Dr. Kadowaki over. Is that okay?"

Just before she heads out, she glances over her shoulder. "Hey, Eugene? I know we're not exactly on the best terms... but I'm glad this guy's got you to look after him."

Before she forgets to call a doctor, she disappears off to find Touma. Hopefully the little guy'll get better. (She knows he will - it's just hard watching the dog and being unable to do much.)

Then Cissie is gone (or perhaps she was already gone and Eugene had been talking to air) and Eugene is left alone with the wolf pup once more. He tries to keep the pup's whimpering to a minimum, but it is obvious that the pain is still lingering.
