Grell stepped out from her dorm, dressed in a simple red pencil skirt and white oversized sweater and red pumps. She was simply going for a stroll, and hopefully find Marco so he could join her. She hummed happily when she stepped out, in a good mood.

How could this day go wrong?

No, wait a minute, he can fix this! "Just for the record, I wasn't implying anything. Only that it was about time someone thought to teach him that."

What a terrible cover up.

Grell stopped in her tracks and whirled around, focusing everything she had on Espio. She didn't even hear Marco.

"Then why are YOU giving thanks for a present for my son?! Why isn't he here to thank me himself?!"

"Kitten," Marco sighed and rubbed his eyes with his hand, "He just wanted to thank you for teaching him, there's nothing wrong with that. Stop picking a fight."

He pulled the hand away to glace at Espio, "And you are making things worse, eh?"

"You say that like it's on purpose..." Espio grumbled, but he sort of gave an apologetic nod to Grell, as if to confirm what Marco was saying.

"I'M NOT PICKING A FIGHT!" How could Marco even suggest that this was a fight! Grell was visibly bristled by all of this.

It seemed the yelling from the hallway had finally managed to rouse the last person asleep in the entire dorm, as Tobias -- still in his pajamas -- made a groggy appearance.

"What's going on?"

[espio]

If Espio wasn't so distracted, he would recognise Tobias' appearance in the middle of this discussion.

And what was he distracted by?

Those pajamas.

"Oh, and if you feel like treating him to another present, please get him some new pajamas. I feel like stabbing my eyes out."

"Wow Toby, those are pretty... loud, eh? And your boyfriend and Mom are fighting, please feel free to get them to stop," Marco was just about ready to give up.

Being utterly distracted by Toby's presence, Grell couldn't help but concur.

"That goes with saying..." But what a wonderful opportunity that has landed in her lap. "Toby, dear, would you like to go out for ice cream~?"

Tobias blinked a little, scratching his neck and yawning a bit. What was it now? Fight?

...Ooh, ice cream.

"Sure, Mom."

"At this time of morning?" Espio wondered, aloud. There was something in the way Grell had said it that made him feel oddly suspicious, and he - calming down a little after blurting out the thing about the book - eyed Grell suspiciously. "And weren't we in the middle of something?"

"We're done." Grell answered quickly, going over to Toby. "Now go change, sweetie!" She ushered him over to the door so he could go inside and not embarrass her more get dressed. Those pajamas...

Tobias gave a still somewhat sleepy noise, but obeyed, disappearing into his room to get changed.

"Ice cream?" Marco arched an eyebrow.

Espio shrugged. "Not the best breakfast choice, but whatever. Do what you want."
