Grell stepped out from her dorm, dressed in a simple red pencil skirt and white oversized sweater and red pumps. She was simply going for a stroll, and hopefully find Marco so he could join her. She hummed happily when she stepped out, in a good mood.

How could this day go wrong?

Tobias giggled a little at the kiss, trying to hug Grell in response.

"Yep! I want to be able to help you and Dad and Espio if you need me."

She smiled back. Ah, motherhood.

"I'm sure you will be, sweetie."

After a bit more walking, they make it to the ice cream shop, and it was still just as neat as it was when she came there a year or so ago. Ice cream goes to the hips. But this was a special occasion! She chose a booth for them and passed a menu to him. "Pick anything you wish!"

"Um..."

Tobias blinked a little, looking at the menu. He wasn't picky, but okay! He knew what he wanted.

"Strawberry!"

Grell nodded while looking at the menu. "I think I'll have cheesecake!" She then flagged over a waitress to get their orders placed. Once they were alone, Grell swooped into her plan.

"So~! Have you been reading that book I gave you?"

"Yep! Thanks for it, Mom. I understood enough of it that Espio and I didn't have a problem."

...Wait, what?

...oh dear Fates.

Grell stared at him, registering what he said before blinking and shaking clear the...sheer disbelief.

"...pardon? I'm not sure I follow."

Tobias blinked a little, tilting his head.

"Espio and I had sex on Valentine's Day."

So utterly shameless and blunt, like it's something completely out of the ordinary.

The day had come where she hadn't thought her book would work so well so soon. Grell was gripping her napkin tightly before she loosened her grip and plastered on a smile.

"My little boy isn't so little! Did you at least use protection?"

"Yeah, of course we did, Mom."

The book did note that pretty heavily. He blinked a bit more.

"Is something wrong?"

"No! No, no! Nothing's wrong!" Oh, here were their orders! Just in time! The waitress left, leaving them in privacy once again. "I certainly hope no one got hurt."

"It didn't hurt very long."

Tobias, as always, had no shame, it seemed... or any idea of why this would be a bad thing to share with his mother.

Just as Grell was about to take a spoonful of ice cream into her mouth, she looked up quickly at him, missing her mouth. She smiled and placed the spoon down into the bowl and went to wipe the side of her mouth with a napkin.

"Ah, that's very good to hear. Remind me to thank Espio later." More sooner than later. "Did you learn anything from your new experience?" Grell took up the spoon again, getting ice cream into her mouth and not on her face.

Tobias has begun to dig into his own ice cream, smiling brightly like a little kid with it.

"Like what?"

"Well, that's really up to you to say! I didn't read the book, so I can't give much input, you see." Grell reached over and stole some ice cream from Toby!

Tobias blinked, moving so his Mom could take some of his easier and trying to get a bit of hers.

"Well, I know why people who love each other do it. It feels weird, but you get really close."

Grell gave a genuine smile. It was nice to see your child grow before your eyes.

"Love is usually weird. So you're doing it right." She paused, wiggling her spoon at him. "Excuse the pun. But I'm glad you learned that most important lesson!"

He giggled a little, smiling once more.

"Thanks, Mom! I'm really glad I can do that too."
