"Best...Hearts Day...Ever." She stated between each breath, leaving out the 'hooves' part. She wasn't at home at the moment. She wore a a lovely dress and a rose was tucked in her curly hair.

"Until next year," Champloo said, squeezing his hand in hers. "Though I admit that we will find this one difficult to top, I am certain we will find a way to improve on the recipe."

"Do you think we can?!" Pinkie looked over to him with wide eyes. "Maybe we can go on a hot balloon ride! OR we can have a GINORMOUS parade!

"A hot air balloon? That certainly seems the most likely of the two! We shall look into it as the day approaches next year!"

Come to think of it, he had never been on a hot air balloon before. Something about living in a secret classroom in the depths of an institution of learning seemed to always conspire against that occurring... then and now.

"And what about the parade idea?!" Pinkie thought that was a stellar idea! Love on parade with heart shaped EVERYTHING!

"Hyahya, well. It may prove difficult to find enough people to throw a parade simply to celebrate the fact that you and I are together," Champloo said with a fond smile. "And if we parade to love in general, then we leave out the people who do not have someone else. And if we simply parade, then that is a fun thing, but then it loses the personal touch."

Pinkie looked deflated, but she won't be deterred so easily! "Well, I'll keep working on more ideas!" Because, darnit, she wants a parade!

She returned her gaze to the sky before speaking again. "Is there a holiday like this one back home?" Pinkie then looked to Champloo again. "Your home! Not mine!"

"The Netherworlds did not speak highly of love," Champloo said. "Of course, most demons felt fondness, admiration, liking, or even love for others, but to publicly admit it was considered weak and shameful."

"Well...are there other places that isn't a Netherworld where people think differently?" Pinkie kept hearing about the Netheworld, but never about someplace not a Netherworld.

"I would be greatly surprised if the human world, or Celestia, did not have very different views of love, romance, and affection than did Evil Academy," Champloo said. "But having never been to those places, I cannot speak of them with any certainty! I season my guesses with education and inference, but that does not mean I know the recipe by heart."

For Champloo not to know a recipe by heart was surprising, so she didn't inquire more. Instead she squeezed his hand with a bright smile before looking back up. "I guess I'll ask you next year about this holiday, right?!"

"I personally find it interesting that Garden gives so much credit to the holiday," he said, returning the squeeze. "Even hardened mercenaries are tenderized by the mallet-blows of romance, it seems!"

Pinkie looked to him in awe.

"...even Commander Zabala?!"

"I cannot speak to her personally. I have never attempted to date her! However," he said, considering this, "if love's flames have seared her heart, they have sealed the juices inside so well that not even the scent of joy escapes."

Anyone could tell that this particular metaphor was something that Pinkie was deciphering.

"So...she's like a candy with a hard, sugary outside, yet filled with gooey goodness inside, but no one knows for sure because no one can eat the candy for some weird reason?!"

"That may be, but -- no one knows. It may be she is as cold through as leftovers filed into the back of the freezer for later consumption."

Pinkie sat up straight and covered her mouth in sheer horror. "No...NOT THE BACK OF THE FREEZER!!"

"That perhaps may be too dramatic, but if she has ever have someone to call her special someone, she does not now," Champloo said with a shrug.

"Oh." Pinkie changed positions and laid on her stomach, swinging her legs. "Maybe we should help her or help someone find her!"

Yes, she was plotting to be a matchmaker...

Champloo sat up and turned as Pinkie shifted, reaching out to apply massaging pressure to her back with the same skill and care with which he wielded a knife or carefully added the exact amount of spice to a simmering cookpot. "But whose spice would compliment her taste?"

Pinkie wondered what Champloo was up to, but then there was a sudden massage to her back and she pretty much understood how fresh pizza dough must feel! She melted and sighed in appreciation. "Maybe a honey mustard one?"

The trick was pressure! A good massage could be quite forceful, but pressure relieved pain and relaxed muscles! He put some weight into his massaging.

"Can you think of anyone who would meet that description who is not already poured atop another dish?"

Pinkie went to answer, but closed her mouth. "Well there's--no...not him..." It was hard to concentrate with such a great massage going on!

"I think we should just give her a cat."

"But Pinkie, pets are forbidden in the Garden if they are not trained for combat." Not that the rule ever stopped anyone, but this was the Commander!

"Who says a cat can't be trained?!"

Nope, sure did not stop anyone, especially the Girl with the Pet Baby Alligator.

"No one -- although they are cats," he added reflectively. "But giving the Commander ingredients that will spoil will require that she cook them! And that makes for a very backhanded gift."
