Time for a Snowball Fight! - Backdated a few days

Summary: Starfire wants to play in the snow. Feel free to make your own threads and threadjack everything except the thread of her showing Fionna how she flies.

After her promise to meet Fionna outside to show off her flying, Kori heads outside with a light coat (since she really didn't need much else) to be there to show her.

AFTER

Kori is outside with whatever people who might be around making snowballs. Considering it was her first time, she wasn't doing too badly. So she was rather proud of herself. And she's going to "invite" others to join her, either through request or - if she thinks they won't get made at her - throwing a snowball at them.

Fionna comes out in...nothing else but her uniform, looking unperturbed by the cold. Yes, all of that fighting with the Ice Queen has made her pretty strong against snow thankfully, so you're not likely to see shivering. She does at least have gloves on though.

"Heya Kori! Did you round up anyone yet?"

Kori smiles as Fionna comes out, glad to see her friend. They hadn’t known each other that long but as Garfield said, considered everyone her friend. She does notice that Fionna isn’t wearing a coat, but she didn’t seem like she was cold.

“Hello Fionna! I tried, but no one yet. But I can show you until then.”

Fionna shrugged. "Hey, I'm sure they'll come soon! In the meantime, you can help me make some forts and some snowballs, and then we can figure out how we're gonna totally mess each other up later!"

She is grinning pretty happily as she says this.

"Of course, of course! I'll help, just show me what to do."

She smiled brightly looking at all the snow to work with. Snowballs were pretty self-explanatory, but she needed more ideas for the other.

"Sure! Just start gathering up the snow in, like, a nicely pact square formation. You wanna make it nice and high, since you're gonna be ducking behind it so you don't get hit, but not too high or you can't see where the snowballs you go are gonna land."

Fionna started to demonstrate, favoring a fort with a fairly formidable looking outer wall.

Kori stood there for a few moments watching as she began to build the wall of the snow fort. She’d never done it before so she was curious. Finally she thought she was getting the idea so she knelt down and started with her own wall. It wasn’t as nice as hers, but she wasn’t doing a half bad job at it.

“How is this?”

"Not too bad, but make that part at the left a little stronger, and try not to make that middle so high. Oh wait, you can fly, so maybe that's not so bad!"

That was still cool, honestly.

"Oh okay." And she started working on the sections she said. At the last part she looked up and smiled at her. "Yes, I can."

And she's going to show off a little and hover a few feet off the ground.

"You cheater!" Fionna called out, grinning. It was just like Marshall Lee, really, but cooler.

She flings a snowball, just for fun.

"I won't do it during the fight. I promise I won't."

She blinks as she is hit with a smile then grins brightly and throws a snowball back. Carefully though.

""Well, either way, it'll be fun! Who did you say we should invite to come play?"

She leapt out of the way, grinning. "Gotta be faster than that!"

"Rainbow and Ed," and she lists off a few people she's thought of since then.

"Oh I do?" So she throws another, this time faster.

"Well I hope they show up soon! If not, we can just have lotsa fun by ourselves! I'll even let you fly! Hup!"

Looks like Fionna is totally going to take you seriously now, and barely makes it out of the way.

"I hope so too. It'll be more fun that way, but we can have fun by ourselves."

Kori grinned. Yep, she is a fighter. She was trying to hold back so she didn't throw it too hard.

"It'll be neat trying to take on someone who can fly!" Fionna said, and she was SO ready to do that, she was pumped up!

Fionna could tell Kori was starting to get her wind though, so she threw a few well aimed snowballs at the girl's body.

"I'll do my best." Well, if she really wanted to give it a try, Kori is more than happy to oblige. She dodges around the snowballs and throws a few more back.

Fionna finally gets hit with one and she lets out a happy giggle, striking back with five she had already made in the fort. An adventurer always was well prepare!

And now it was Kori’s turn to get hit with one as she was dodging out of the way. She was usually much more competitive, but it was a game. Even for play, she took seriously though. She had run out of snowballs and dove to get more snow on the fly to make more.

Fionna was not about to give up on her advantage! She was throwing quickly the moment she saw Korriand'r descend, anxious to get a few more hits in before she was at a disadvantage again!

That was her disadvantage at this. She could get better angles, but there were only so many snow balls she could have with her at one time. And having a higher than normal body temperature meant they disappeared that much faster. So she gets hit a few more times before she gets a snow ball and throws it back.

Fionna figured, or at least was starting to make out, that what Starfire could use to her advantage she could also find to work for her. Fionna was already rolling around in the snow, firing three more snowballs at her frenemy, seeing if they all could reach.

Star twisted out of the way as several came flying at her. She was hit by the last one that came her way and finally had enough snow that she could throw several back in rapid order. Hoping she went, she went to gather more snow so she could toss more back and have a supply so she could get back into the air.

Fionna was still trying to recover from her throw, being grazed on the shoulder and then right off the top of her er head. The third missed, but the forth made contact directly at her rump, which caused Fionna to shriek. She was already going for more of her snow stash, albeit a little slower because of wet butt, and fired four more.

Kori paused hearing the shriek. Maybe she had thrown it too hard! She worried about that ever since Robin had started telling her to be more careful, at least with her friends. "Are you alright?"

"You won't be after my turn is done!" Fionna called out, grinning. She was already lobbing a few snowball at her opponent. "You just got my butt wet! This means war!"

What a strange reason to want to fight someone, was the first though in her mind. She dodged a few of the snow balls, but got hit by a few at the same time. Finally she can't help, but laugh.

The person who asked that question had obviously never had ice and snow trickle down into their underwear! Fionna was totally in the game, although she was only feigning being mad: she was actually having a lot of fun.

"Victory!"

She laughed some more, before landing on the ground for the moment. "Yes, you win!"

She won't be so lucky the next round, but for this one she wins.

"Are you kidding? That was the most fun I've had with snow in ages! Me and cake have fun, but usually the Ice Queen ruins it. This was great!"

She wiped some of the snow off her shoulder, grinning. "Now I'm all soaked and out of breath!"

"I'm so glad I could help. I had fun too. We should definitely do it again if we get the chance."

She smiled. "Well, maybe first we should go inside and warm up."

"I wish more people came, but you know, this was plenty fun without a whole crowd of people anyway! I mean, you can fly, I'm pretty fast and rough! It's great to just be able to enjoy SNOW, you know?"

Fionna was going to shrug, but then a shiver went through her and she giggled nervously. "Yeah, might be a good idea!"

She nodded enthusiastically. "It was a lot of fun for my first time playing in the snow. I've never had the chance. Thank you for joining me."

She paused a moment. "Well, what do people normally do after they play in the snow? We could go get something hot to drink."

"Hey, no bigs! I wanted to actually get out and have some fun, you know? You can only stay couped up in this place reading and doing assignments for so long your eyes don't pop outta your head!"

She nodded. "Yeah, like hot chocolate or something, but do they even have something like that here? Or is it just, you know, tea?"

By the look on Fionna's face, it was clear she did not approve.

"Eyes pop out of your head..." She paused a moment as she thought about that as though she was considering how that could happen. "I agree that assignments are boring. I'd much rather be out in the sun."

"Well, we'd have to see. Tea isn't bad, but it all depends on what you like."

"Yeah, you know, I'm just jokin but it still sucks," she said, thinking of the stacks of books she was going to have to read tonight and the next few days. While it certainly would have been said that the adventurer had a small attention span, if she really wanted to do it she would. That was why times like these were so important to her.

"It's too grown up for a girl like me!" She said brightly. "Give me something with bubbles or with chocolate, I'll drink it up. Tea is just...bluh."

"It does. I wish there weren't so many of them. I suppose there isn't much that can be done though."

"Well then, let's go get some hot chocolate!" She had no problem with tea, but if her friend didn't want any, she had no issue with that.

"Yeah, anything tat's worth doing is gonna take a bunch of work, right? So I gotta prepare. But I'm taking my fun when I can get it!"

Fionna got up, eager to get to the drinking. "Sure, I'll have that anytime, but it'll be way more awesome to have it with a friend, cold outside!"

"I guess that's true." Says the girl who doesn't have to work to learn languages and almost literally had a modeling career just handed to her because of her appearance. Well, she has had to work hard but not as something as mundane as reading. "It is important to find enjoyment as many ways as possible."

"Great! Let's go." And she comes over to take her hand so they can go.

"Oh man, it is! I have a huge buncha junk to learn, I gotta go and get some math supplements. Who knew there were so many ways to count junk? And I don't wanna get behind. Glad I'm real good at swimming and finding about all the animals here. But yeah, I'm gonna mae sure I enjoy myself a whole lot! What else do you think we should do next?"

Granted, Fionna is totally taking her hand as they leave the snow forts and snow balls behind.
