[Marco runs around setting everything up. There's platters of food laid out -- more than enough and some extra as a habit from dealing with Ace and 1600 pirates, a boombox with tons of music, beach volleyball set up, a campfire, and according to Selphie and Marco, fireworks for later. [ Sigyn is chewing sushi when Gakupo interrupts. She turns her head, swallows the mush in her mouth, a hand stopping just before it takes another piece of sushi. She smiles brilliantly. ]

Ah, My Love! Is this not a joyous party?

It is, yes, but...you're not absorbing all there is to this lovely arrangement of seafood! [He sits across from her, taking some sushi with chopsticks. He takes about six.] Take up your chopsticks, please.

[ Sigyn makes a curious expression, perturbed, but she does as Gakupo says so politely. ] Aye?

[He takes up one piece of sushi, waiting for her to do the same.]

[ Sigyn attempts to pick up the sushi with her chopsticks, but she is unable to hold them correctly and so she is making a crossed chopstick x next to the sushi piece. She frowns and tries again, this time getting the sushi between the pointed ends of the stick, only to drop it again. ]

Infuriating...

[ She puts her sticks together and then stabs the sushi, picking it up as if its a kabob.

She beams proudly. ]

[He watches her, on the edge of her seat. She's so close, but then...

Gakupo's jaw drops at how she just...stabbed it. No...]

We'll...go back to that. Now, I want you to eat the sushi, but don't place another into your mouth until you've finished the one you're eating!

Is this a ritual? [ Sigyn's a little more perturbed, and looks at the sushi with question on her mind and in her expression. ] I am not comfortable in this manner, My Love.

It's not a ritual, it's how sushi is meant to be eaten. Did you know that each piece is made by hand, after carefully cutting only the absolute best part of the fish? Did you know that even if one grain of rice is not of the best quality, the whole batch is not even used?

A lot of chefs study the art of making sushi, because it's so difficult! They spend their youth training to just become qualified to make sushi! You can't simply become a sushi chef!

My Love, you are becoming very excited over the food which I am eating. ...and I quite like this enthusiasm you are displaying. [ She looks to her chopstick kabob and looks closely at the sushi. She notes there is more to the piece than the rice and black wrapper looking coloring around the outside. Now that she looks closer, she can see that it is not part of the rice. It is actually cut by something.

Her eyes widen and her lashes bat. ]

Oh. [ She brings down the chopsticks to Mt. Sushi and, with one finger, she nudges the sushi off the chopsticks. Where she'd pierced the inside, she's pulled at the fish. ]

I have never eaten something without voracious tidings. It does not do to be anything but in the fortress.

[Gakupo smiles and watches her discover the food all over again. It's akin to watching a child discover small bugs, or really seeing that flower petals are really protecting the sweet nectar inside. It's really something wonderful to see.]

Ah, well, I'm sure you don't have to eat like that here. Although, I'm curious as to why that's so.

[ Sigyn moves the chopsticks between her fingers, attempting to mimic Gakupo. ] It is customary that one shows respect to their meal's host by eating their meals heartily so they know their meals are enjoyed. [ She squeezes her fingers together, attempting to move her thumb and forefinger correctly along the chopsticks. ]

To eat with slow, small bites is to insult the meal. In old times upon Vanaheim, the success of peace talks relied upon the outcome of the meal. Disfavor gave way to war.

[He mostly moves just his index and middle fingers, and leaves his thumb unmoving.]

Ah, so that's the reason? I can certainly understand the importance of appreciating a meal, but back home, eating that fast was only reserved for hot noodles. [He chuckles softly.] Slurping them helps cool it off.

[ Sigyn frowns, her brow creasing in concentration as she attempts to right her finger movements. ] I have never heard of slurping noodles. [ Mostly because noodles weren't part of the Vanir diet. ]

[He watches, smiling softly. She was doing well, for a first timer.]

Well, I'll have to prepare it for you sometime.

Oh, would you? That would be so lovely, My Love.

[ She finally gets the chopsticks accurately and moves them to a sushi piece. She brings them around the sushi and attempts to pick it up, but she drops it twice before she can get it between the sticks. ]

Then I shall see if I can get the ingredients together. I can't guarantee it will taste that great, however.

[He gives her a thumbs up at her final attempt.] Now, move it to your mouth~!

No matter. The gesture is made by love and so I shall find it all the more wonderful.

[ She nods, and concentrates on the sushi piece between her chopsticks. She's careful with how she paces herself, slowly moving the sushi piece to her face, and then mouth. Eyes on the prize (the sushi, in this case), Sigyn opens her mouth, bringing the sushi closer.

It tastes special.

But she doesn't give opinion yet. ]

You're very kind. [He's grateful that any gesture he can muster will be appreciated by her.

Ah, she's accomplished her first bite with chopsticks. Gakupo tries to read her face, but to no avail.]

How is it this time?

It is... [ She tastes the individual flavors wrapped into one single package. ] ...different. [ But not unpleasant. She moves her chopsticks to pick up another piece. ] There is spice in these which I quite like.
