Backdated to the weekend Beach Party and Birthday Log! \o/

[Marco runs around setting everything up. There's platters of food laid out -- more than enough and some extra as a habit from dealing with Ace and 1600 pirates, a boombox with tons of music, beach volleyball set up, a campfire, and according to Selphie and Marco, fireworks for later. GO NUTS. There will be some threads set up, but you can make your own or do anything! Just remember if the thread gets wild, mark it as NSFW.]

[Chika smiled.]

Well, it looks like you've only grabbed some bread. You should probably try to eat more than that. You know, before Piyomon and Gaomon get to the food and you loose your chance.

[Digimon ate a lot, after all.]

[He laughs sheepishly, although he still sounds a bit distracted.] Honestly, after a bunch of homicidal fish trying to eat you, it kind of puts you off eating them for the rest of the day...

[It's not yet dark enough out here for the flush in his cheeks to be anything other than really, really noticeable.]

Oh, did you want to get to the chips? [He hastily steps away from the table.] G-Go right ahead.

[And then he'll get to see her from behind, too. Man, he's a genius!]

[ Chika blinked. ]

Really? That usually makes me want to eat them more. You know, spite and all.

[ She's kidding. Mostly. Though now that Yosuke mentioned it, maybe chips would be a good idea. ]

Oh. Thanks.

[ She walks over to where the chips are... and gives him a bit of a wiggle of her ass as she walks. Yeah, she wasn't stupid dude. But as long as you didn't try to touch or anything, she could give you a bit of a look at least. ]

So... I guess you're pretty new here. Are you Hanamura-san? Or are you another new person here?

[Unfortunately for Yosuke, and fortunately for everyone else in the universe, he looks away from Chika for just a second as a stray blitzball thunks wetly into the sand a few yards away from the table and misses the main spectacle.

This doesn't mean he's stopped blushing. Actually, any boats passing by the beach would probably be able to use him as a beacon by this point. His breadsticks are practically forgotten already.]

Oh! Yeah, Yosuke Hanamura, that's me. Uh, did we talk...?

[He's really distracted right now, and surreptitiously adjusting the neck of his shirt.]

[ Chika grinned, putting a few of the chips on her plate and turning to face him again. ]

Yep. It's me, Chika Daimon.

[ Aww, he was blushing. How cute. It's like he really hasn't seen a cute girl in a bikini before or something.

... Or maybe it's because she was talking to him and not punching him. Or something like that. Who knew? ]

Oh, you're Chika-san...! I had no idea!

[He hopes the grin he's attempting to return doesn't make him look too slack-jawed.]

So, uh, you have friends here or something?

Yep!

[ And well, if it does, she's not mentioning it. ]

Yeah. I have a couple of people I know from back home here, and there's a couple of people who I met here who I'm pretty friendly with too.

I see... [In an attempt to look more casual, he shifts his weight to lean a bit more on one leg.] Looks like they did a pretty good job too, huh? This must've been in the works for a while.

Well, I'm sure the planning was in the works for a while, but it only got finalized about a week ago. Selphie's just really good about organizing things like this.

[He lets out a low whistle, looking up and down the rest of the beach with a genuinely impressed smile on his face.] Organising's just one part of it. They really went all out. And hey, I seriously wouldn't've guessed you weren't prepared...

[He stops, then hurriedly cuts that train of thought off with only a small strangled noise. At least he's not facing her right now.]

W-Well, never mind that... But man, it's too bad I can't go in the water myself.

What do you mean about me not being...

[ She stopped her thought, realizing she was talking about her bikini and let out a giggle. ]

Yeah. I kinda ran out to town as soon as I heard about this and went to buy one. I hadn't really had much of a chance before this to go shopping for a swimsuit.

But you're right, it's kinda not good that you can't go into the water. We could've raced or something.

Yeah, raced... But there's always next time. [He looks down at his still untouched breadstick.] Uh, assuming this beach isn't going anywhere. [Can't be too careful when you're adjusting to the rules of another world, after all...

A moment passes. Then, quite suddenly, he looks up at her again.]

I... think you made a great choice! [Sadly, this is likely to be his best attempt at smooth for the rest of the evening.]

[ Chika giggled, a small blush coming to her face at that compliment. ]

Aww, thanks Yosuke-san. And yeah, there really is always next time. I don't think the beach is going anywhere now.

[ They kinda stopped the guy who might've been able to make it go away if he wanted to, after all. ]

[He nods. ...Well, formalities are natural when they've only just met. He'll have to give it time, that's all!

At this point, he finally remembers the bread he was holding, and takes a bite out of it.]

So! What're you doing for the rest of the evening? [He's spraying a few crumbs...]

[ That's a good question, actually. ]

Well, I'm going to be staying here until the party's over. But after that I'm probably just going to be staying in my room and relaxing.

No real plans, huh? Then how about -

[This is the exact moment a second stray blitzball smacks into the side of his neck.]

Yosuke-san! Are you okay?

[ Chika's going to be running over to him and checking to make sure he's not really hurt. Maybe readying a Cure spell if it's needed ~~you can never tell with some of the people and the junctions here~~. ]

Argh...

[But despite his groaning, Yosuke seems to be just fine as he straightens up; even his headphones and translator aren't more than a little askew. The only visible casualties were his breadsticks, which are now gathering sand.

Very slowly, he opens one eye, rubbing the side of his neck.] It's... pretty sweet of you to ask... [He sounds a bit giddy. Give him a second. ...Or don't.]

[ Chika blinked, looking over at him. She didn't think it was pretty sweet, she figured that it was just normal.

... Though if he's commenting like that, there's probably a good chance that he's fine. ]

I guess it's not that bad then, is it?

[He gives her a long-suffering look. He's had a lot of practice at those.] Is it just me, or do you sound disappointed...?

[ Chika blinked, frowning a bit at that comment. ]

Yeah. It's just you.

[ Any disappointment was towards the comment he made rather than him being fine. ]

[Aw, man. He sighs and moves over to grab another plate, surreptitiously readjusting his headphones as he passes Chika.]

Well... If they're gonna keep throwing those things over here, maybe we should go stand somewhere else. [He glances down at the latest blitzball, which after bouncing off him rolled a little ways across the sand before bumping gently into one of the legs of the nearest table.] What in the world are they playing, anyway?

[ Chika smiled and gave Yosuke a nod. ]

Yeah. That's probably for the best.

As for what they're playing, well... I think it's called blitzball, but I was never really interested in the rules. I don't know if it's a native game or if it was brought by someone like us though.

Uh huh... Well, whatever it is, it'd be nice for them to keep a better eye on it. [He doesn't sound particularly enthusiastic about the unfamiliar game, but that isn't the main reason he now looks even more dejected.]

Anyways, I'll, uh... catch you later, Chika-san?

[ Chika nods. ]

Yeah. They probably should...

[ She blinks at that last comment though, not sure why he was leaving just yet. But well, there were other people here at the party, after all. ]

Sure. I'm sure I'll be seeing you around. Sure, Garden's big, but not that big.
