Summary: Pinkie Pie wants a date. Champloo agrees to give her one. Hilarity Ensues.



Outside the HEC classrooms -- the actual ones, not the massive kitchen in the basement -- a demon waits, leaned casually against the wall. Truth be told, he has absolutely no idea how this turn of events came out. But he'd agreed to meet Pinkie Pie for a date after class...

Pinkie came out her classroom, holding a container of cupcakes with various frosting colors and sprinkles. Heaven forbid she forget the sprinkles! For once, she wasn't eating one right now. She would have patience, long enough to give Champloo one.

Oh good! He was on time!

"Hey, Chammy! Wanna cupcake? They're YUUUUUUUUMMYYYYYYYY~!" The round container is offered to him with a wide smile. "I made them this morning since I had SO much time before classes and making cupcakes takes no time at all, so I had LOTS and LOTS and LOTS of time to make them extra yummy!"

Of course he was on time! It would be rude to keep a lady waiting.

"Thank you!" He accepted a cupcake with a smile. "Though I suppose I ought to save it for dessert."

"How can you wait for dessert when it's already here?! Give iiiiiinnnnnn to the cuuuuuuupcaaaaaaake." Pinkie was trying to put a spell on him, or compel him to eat it.

She started to look around him, though, searching for something.

She almost succeeded, or at least had convinced him to eat it now, but he stopped before it could get anywhere near his mouth.

"Do I have a grease stain?"

"Oh, right here," Pinkie pointed to his elbow. "You got a bit of..." Wait for iiiiit. "Elbow grease!" Oh, the jokes! Pinkie giggled before continuing. "I'm looking for my date!"

"He's right here, being tormented by your terrible jokes!" Champloo said good-naturedly.

"But...you're not a date! You're Chammy! And you probably don't taste all that yummy." Pinkie was well aware he jokes were bad, but she loved them anyway.

"That depends on how I've been marinaded." Of course, he was utterly serious.

"However, I am beginning to suspect that despite my best efforts to make the menu clear, your order wasn't for what I prepared."

...how was it possible to get Pinkie to be speechless?! She opened her mouth, then closed it, then opened it, then closed. Finally, she opened it again, and WORDS CAME OUT!!! "I'm not a people eater!"

She held the container, now closed with a lid, under one arm and a hand on her hip with the free hand. "I ordered a date! You know, a fruit! What else could that be?"

"Ah," he said, lowering his head to one hand briefly. "I think I see the trouble. Pinkie, in the context in which we were speaking, namely romance, a 'date' means when two people go do something, out of romantic interest."

She took a moment to think that over. "Oh, what Rarity talks about? About finding...HIM." She gave him a skeptical look. "He turned out to be a jerk!"

Invading his personal space, again, she got nose to nose with Champloo. "You're not a jerk, are you? IIIIIIII Can SMELL one from a mile away, but you marinate yourself, so I can't tell."

"Whether I say I am or not, you should listen to what your heart says!" Champloo says, not really bothered by her being so close. "You have spent time around me; do you think that I am a jerk?"

"No way! You make a MEEEAAAANNNNN jerk chicken, but you're no jerk! You're the nicest person I know!" Pinkie gave his nose a light tap before grinning ear to ear. "You're NOTHING like that royal pain in the butt! And we all thought Rarity was bad. Yeeesssshhhhh. He totally takes the cake AND the oven!"

"Well, then." Not that he had any fear of his opinion in Pinkie's eyes, but it was nice to hear. "Now that we have addressed this comical misunderstanding, now what?"

"GOOD QUESTION!" Pinkie stood back with her thinking face on and arms crossed. "Well, I've never been on one of those...dates before, so let's try it!" She did look puzzled at the concept. "What do you DO on one?"

There was a pause.

"Are there ANY dates on a date? It would be a ripoff if there wasn't! I mean, what's the POINT of calling a date a date if there aren't any DATES on a date?!"

"I believe the term for the fruit is derived from a different language than that for the appointment." Of course he would know about the history of ingredients! "Generally, on a 'romantic' date the two people involved spend time together at a meal or enjoyable activity."

The demon grinned broadly. "So, why don't I make you some food? Boom!"

"...so there aren't any dates on a date?"

The prospect of Champloo cooking anything for her was something she could live with! "WOOOOO! A dinner and a show! I'm all for it!" She hopped in place in excitement before looping her arm through his.

"Your place or mine?!" Meaning her kitchen or his...life sized broiler?

He accepted her arm, every bit the gallant gentleman.

"That depends on what you would like to eat. Of course I have all my ingredients and tools back at my kitchen, but if you have something you would like for me to prepare, I can surely make do at yours."

Well, Pinkie wasn't into meat too much, save for party food, so she hummed in thought before her face lit up. "I have a GREAT idea! Let's make something TOGETHER!"

"Now that sounds like an interesting idea! Do you mean a dish to which we each contribute, or a meal which we each provide a dish for?"

Either way, that sounded excellent!

"I meeeeaaannnnn..." Wait, she didn't even consider all of that. "Um...we can cook something together, but not...untogether?" She was sure that just had to be a word!

Normally he can translate pretty well. But not always.

"Erh, you lost me. Wouldn't together and not untogether be the same?"

Her Pinkie-speak was failing her!

"LET'S JUST MAKE A DISH TOGETHER! Because if you started on your own, you'd make FIVE dishes by the time I blink! So you can't use your SPOOOOOOKY MAAAAAAGIC!"

Or whatever he called his Kitchen Fist Style strategy. She couldn't even say it properly sometimes.

Or his translator for Pinkie-speak was!

"All right! Then I propose we use your kitchen! That will help slow me down just a little."

Pinkie halted and did a dosy-doe, ho-down style, before facing them in the direction back to her kitchen.

"And if that doesn't work, I'll cast Slow on you, DOUBLE TIME!" Because that would be the logical thing to do.
