(no subject)
Character(s): Ginji and you!
Location: Around the Garden
Rating: G-PG
Open/Closed/Finished: Open
Summary: An excitable boy discovers everything new and glorious.
He hadn't quite understood what everything meant, but that hardly mattered when presented with all the new sights and sounds. Ginji ran back and forth like a child on Christmas; his eyes were wide and filled with awe, mouth agape and overflowing with 'oohs', 'wow!' and other little sounds of wonderment. Compared to Japan, everything seemed so different but exciting. In contrast to the spiraling towers, densely packed buildings and dirty streets of lower Mugenjou, it just seemed alien.
Nevertheless, every structure was given a curious touch, no bench was left empty--for as long as his patience could hold up, at least, and every passerby received a mirthful (and loud) greeting.

"Oh, I don't mind so much. Better than nothing, right? Besides! You seem really smart," he said with an assured nod. "So you can help someone like me if things get tough, right?"

On the positive side of things, he couldn't argue with the guy's assessment of him! Still, no, a normal-looking human whose weirdest feature seemed to be an upbeat attitude wouldn't desperately need any help getting used to this place. Ed wasn't that nice.
...Okay, maybe he was, but he preferred to think of it as a character flaw. And there were only so many hours in a day.
"Already angling for support when you haven't been to any classes yet? Pretty defeatist, aren't you?"

At least his partner (painfully) corrected that little mistake.

"Look, you can't expect anyone to help you out if you're not willing to put in the same amount of effort first," he said patiently - by his standards, which pretty much meant he wasn't actually shouting. "Even if you met them more than just a minute ago. Call that kind of thinking whatever you like, the world still won't work that way."

"Oh...I'm not saying that at all. Knowing what you're good and bad at aren't the same as being unwilling to put in the effort," he said, folding his hands in his lap. "No matter what it is, if you don't try your hardest right off the bat, things won't go how you hoped or planned them to." And as long as you did try your best, things would always work out in the end. It was senselessly naive to think so, yes, but it had gotten him this far.
