Better Lake Than Never

Summary: Pinkie Pie tells Champloo to come to her tent alone.

So they can go swimming. You perv.

With the feast ended and the leftovers given proper homes in various places, Champloo left Garden with a smile on his face and a spring on his step. His destination, swiftly arrived-at, was Pinkie Pie's tent. Why she had chosen to camp outside all break was beyond his knowledge, but it didn't bother him -- she would do as she wished, and if it made her happy, he could ask for nothing more.

"Pinkie!" he called out, as he approached.

Pinkie looked down at her skin in awe, because wow, pudding skin!

Something caught her eye and she turned her left at the water. There's a light on the surface of the lake, making Pinkie look up at the sky. Oh, it's a full moon! So that explained not being entirely blind in the dark.

"....wwwwwoooowwwww..." Pinkie hurried over to Chammy and pointed up. "Look! Did you know it would be a full moon tonight?!"

He looked up along with her, his hand seeking out hers again almost unconsciously.

"I did not, Pinkie. That was mere fortunate luck! I would have gladly gone swimming in complete darkness with you!"

Well, at least she knew that it was his hand. Or she could assume. Who really knew in the dark. Speaking of which...

"But what if up became down? Or right is really left?!" The peril of swimming in the dark. "What if I wasn't here with you while you swam in the dark?! You could be lost...foreeeeeveeeerrrrrrr..."

Just thinking about such a prospect worried her, and so she squeezed his hand.

"Garden provides light enough to find it," Champloo said, gesturing to the school. "And besides, it is much more likely that I would only be lost till morning when the sun came up and I could see again! But whatever the case, I would not be lost forever, because that would make you sad, and I could not stand that."

"Thaaaaaaaaat's right!" Pinkie replied to...well, just about everything he said. It made sense. "And then I'd have no one to challenge to a bake off!"

"Would that stop you from doing so?" Champloo said, who was well aware that appreciating Pinkie also carried with it the duty of absorbing a lot of Pinkie's attention before it got turned on people who foolishly didn't appreciate her so much.

Pinkie tapped her chin thoughtfully.

"NOPE! It would just be really boring!" Because Chammy made everything great and fun!

"That it would be," he agreed. No one else in Garden shared his fierce passion for cooking in all its forms, after all. Perhaps that was a sad thing, but he had no intention of mourning it.

"Allow me to ask: If you weren't here, what would you be doing?"

That question stopped all other thoughts in Pinkie's head. Her face took on various expressions as she pondered various outcomes. In truth, how could she ven think of not having Chammy around again?! Before it was boring, and now that they're each other's Special Someone, it would be WAY past boring!

"I'd probably build a flying machine!"

Well, that certainly came from left field.

...yes. Yes it did.

"I think I am not entirely certain of what your home is like," he said with a chuckle.

"Oh, it's so great! We have songs, and magic, and dragons, and apples, and costumes, and PARTIES! And it's usually sunny!" Pinkie couldn't remember a day where it was rainy...

"Hmm. So except for the dragons part, you are basically making Garden as much like your home as possible!" Though Champloo rather suspected that in actuality, Pinkie herself was responsible for most of that to begin with.

Pinkie blinked at him before tilting her head.

"There aren't dragons here?!" She thought there were!

"Well, not here in Garden, or locally. While I have no doubt they exist, I have never encountered one on this world."

"Are they cranky here, too?" Because the last one she dealt with was, but only when they woke it up.

"I do not think they are friendly, but I have never met one," Champloo said. "All I know is what I have been taught since I came here. I believe they are less social and perhaps more alien in mind than Netherworld dragons."

Now she hadn't heard of other types of dragons in other worlds before, so Pinkie looked curious and leaned in close.

"What are Netherworld dragons like?" She'll ask about what the Netherworld is later.

"They are large, but not terribly larger than demons," Champloo said. "They are generally grumpy and violent, but this is not unlike most demons either. Of course, they can fly and most can breathe fire, so they have many similarities to the larger, less social ones here."

"So....they aren't very different from monsters here." Pinkie summed up, looking not so impressed. "No lights or streamers?!" She shook her head in shame.

"Do you know of many monsters that generally have lights or streamers?" Champloo countered. "Although it is true that we demons are often considered monsters by humans, and there are some few of us that favor one or the other."

She would say 'yes' but...that's after her time. In the meantime, Pinkie tapped her chin in thought. "Not really, but I'm sure they're out there!"

Pinkie would be the type to believe in aliens.

"Then allow me to ask you: if they are capable of appreciating lights and streamers, Pinkie, are they truly monsters in your eyes?"

It took a few moments for Pinkie to digest the question, and it dawned on her...

"OHMIGOSHTHEY'RENOTMONSTERSATALL!!!"

"No more so than you or I," said Champloo. "Though the term may be used to describe them, it is no more reflective of their hearts than 'demon', 'human', 'vampire', or any such thing."

Pinkie tapped his nose with a brilliant grin.

"You're so...so...SMART!" She knew some things about monsters, herself, but not as extensively as Champloo.
