Let's All Go To The Movies

Who: Marco and Grell and anyone else who wants to join in/have a separate thread.
Where: In town, because Marco and Grell can both cheat to get there quickly and back XD
What: Watching a chocobo "movie" (or whatever you want to call it.) They might settle for a play, or races
Why: Because Marco's got nightmares and Grell is crazy.
Rating: Spoiler warnings for Marco just because, PROBABLY PG-13, I'll move up if something happens. (It's Grell and a pirate.)
OPEN! Just pop in and bring your own popcorn. Or steal some of Marco's. Whichever.

Really, to be fair, Marco didn't give a damn what Grell wore. He was a pirate after all. Half of the time, he just looked for excuses around campus to undo the buttons on his own shirt. And whether Grell was in the mood for skirts, pants, or a dress, it still didn't faze Marco. It was still going to be Grell underneath it all. The same cute red-head who'd just abruptly tried to kill him moments earlier and then in true kitten fashion was back to purring happily. Ah, romance on the high seas. Or the Garden. Whichever. "You ready?" the blond pirate asked hopefully for the tenth time.

"I came here just last week, and the week before that..." Grell hummed while walking, slightly distracted by the signs and still an extra accessory to Marco's arm.

"Come to think about it, I've been here every week." Grell turned to Marco with a grin. "Have somewhere you want to go?"

"Nothing in mind," Marco answered easily. "Just taking it all in," he added with a grin. "Got any favorite stops?"

Grell looked around before pointing across the street. "That is a nice shop that has pretty good tea and cake. And next to that bar there is a nice clothing shop. They have clothes that aren't so...Balamb-esque." Really, the clothing around here seemed so stiff!

"All dresses?" Marco arched an eyebrow. He really preferred something in the way of pirate pants and sashes. "Yeah, tea and cake huh?"

"They had clothing for men too, and I sometimes go there. Cake doesn't help keep a good figure..." Grell paused in his stride and grinned brightly to Marco with the best idea.

"I could take you shopping~!" It would be fun, and he's get a chance to undress Marco. Not like he needs an excuse, but it wouldn't hurt to have one.

Marco blinked, but Grell looked so enthused with the idea, he couldn't possibly say no. "Well, if you want, eh. Although from what I can see, you're doing a great job with your figure. So I think I can trust your clothing judgement."

"Really?! Oh, this will be great!" Grell stood back a bit, one arm crossed while the other tapped against his chin, and nodded every other moment as he was measuring up Marco's physique. "Broad shoulders, nice build, and stoic features...yes, I'll definitely be able to find something~."

Grell looked to the right and smiled. "Ah, the theater is just over there." Tugs on Marco's hand again and walks towards it.

A small thrill ran down Marco's spine, but then he was being tugged over to the theater and looking over the list of what was being shown until he found the chocobo movie Grell had mentioned. "Looks like it's still playing, eh?'

Grell was looking at the sign and nodded. "We're lucky!" He went over to the ticket booth to check the prices. "They don't seem that bad." Of course he would know prices.

And then the question of how to pay loomed. Grell looked to Marco with curiosity. "Are you paying or shall we pay for our own tickets?" A perfectly logical question.

"I'll buy this time," Marco muttered, quickly buying the tickets. He was going to have to look into doing some the jobs allowed for cadets; if there were any. Luckily, it was an advantage to a diamond sponsorship even if it meant he intended to pay it back tenfold.

Grell gave him a beaming smile. "Thank you, dearest~! I'll get refreshments."

Marco grinned and ruffled Grell's hair, making sure not to mess it up. "Thanks, hon," he beamed. "Such a doll."

"I am," Grell winked. See? He knew a way to a man's heart, besides being gorgeous. Food was just as important. "Just lead the way and leave the rest to me~."

And as was often the saying: pirates are always hungry. Marco led on, over by the concession stand, "Want me to grab us some seats?" There was about fifteen minutes until it started, but he liked to see what they had extra.

"Yes, thank you. I'll be there soon." Grell looked at the selection for a bit before deciding some food for them both. He wasn't sure about how much Marco could eat, but if he was like most males, it would be best to get lots of food.

So he ordered two of those 'hot dogs', chocolate covered raisins, soda, juice (for Grell), and a large popcorn for them both. The staff at the counter hoped it wasn't all for the petite lady.

He waved for Grell as the red-head came up and arched an eyebrow, "I hope you're hungry," he chucked softly. "I'm not part D, you know." He kissed Grell's cheek in thank-you anyway, giving him his seat and scooting over. "Thanks," he grinned cheerfully, popping a few of the chocolate covered raisins in his mouth.

"Part...what?" Grell sat down after handing over most of the food. "I wasn't sure~! Besides, we won't need to get up for anything, right?" He took a sip of the pineapple juice while looking around the theater. It looked much like a stage theater, except with a large screen in front.

The lights began to dim, and Grell settled in next to Marco with anticipation.

"D. It's a family in my world that eats a lot," Marco whispered in Grell's ear and settled back down with some popcorn. He arched an eyebrow on the pineapple juice and took the soda. He wasn't about to admit it, but drinking pineapple juice just seemed much too cannibalistic. The pirate settled back in his seat as the opening credits started to roll.

Grell nodded in understanding before turning his attention to the screen. It was a movie about the dream of a little chocobo who wanted to become the greatest ever race chocobo!

The setting was on a farm that had big rolling hills and lots of space to frolic around in. The little chocobo had a loving family, save for a few other birds who made fun of him for being so small despite being the same age as them.

...and Grell was completely engrossed in it so far, munching on popcorn unconsciously.

Likewise, Marco was pretty taken with the story, especially about the chocobo's family farm and the Father chocobo who wanted him to settle down and learn to how to grow Gysahl Greens.

Grell thought that the father was being unfair in dashing his son's dreams. He frowned, thinking that no dream should be set aside for vegetables! He shook his head and sipped his drink, seeing that an opportunity came up for the wee chocobo while tending to the family farm.

Someone needed a letter delivered in a hurry, and there were no others around to do so. Wee chocobo kid took on the challenge and off he went! Grell paused in chewing the popcorn to watch the letter delivery unfold.

It was pretty obvious they'd picked a kid's show, but Marco was fine with that. Personally he wasn't so sure what was so special about racing that the kid couldn't stay home with his father, but whatever, to each their own. Marco idly rubbed his fingers over the top of Grell's hand.

Grell didn't even notice it was a children's movie, and wasn't about to stop watching either. That little chocobo was quite fast! Go, chocobo kid, go!

He felt those fingers over his hand and felt a tingle over his skin. It was just a simple gesture that probably wouldn't mean much to Marco, but it did to Grell. He smiled to Marco, somewhat bashfully (and he would deny ever doing so), before leaning his head on Marco's shoulders. Eventually, he did catch those idle fingers and laced them with his own.

Marco grinned impishly and instantly relaxed more, resting his head back against the red-head's and mentally noting that Grell could be pretty damn cute, really. At least when he wasn't killing trees and biting tails.

The chocobo faced a bunch of hurdles along the way, having to dodge monsters and run all the way around lakes. Hell, at this rate Marco was pretty sure it could just circumnavigate the world the way it was running.

Grell gave a mental squeal of delight before turning his attention back to the movie, circling a thumb lightly in the palm of Marco's hand idly.

Those monsters seemed awfully powerful for that chocobo, who wasn't a kid anymore. Those scrawny legs from before were gone, and now it was his moment to shine at those annual races. The chocobo couldn't forget his family, and raced to win the prize money for their farm.

"D'awww..." Grell munched on popcorn at the touching cause.
