Office Hours 3: Office Hourser

Summary: Once again, Snow is holding office hours!



Didn't matter if you were in his classes or not, really. Snow had claimed a classroom during free hours in the evening, and casually put around word that he was free to talk about any concerns, questions, problems, or general comments the students might have. His class, any class, whatever.

Of course, fellow SeeDs and Instructors could drop by too.

Unusually, this time around, Snow's actually at a desk, writing something. The world might possibly be coming to an end.

Serah wasn't about to make any jokes about him doing desk work. Now about him finally being closer to her height? That's another matter entirely.

"Suddenly I don't feel quite so short." She smiled, walking around so that she could wrap her arms around his neck loosely before leaning against his chair.

First it had been mid-terms, now finals were just around the corner which means she'd been doing a lot of studying lately. Not that she minded, but it was nice to take some time off every now and then.

"Do you have time or should I leave you alone to tackle your paperwork?"

He half-turned to slide an arm around her waist, leaning into her gently. "You don't get to go anywhere. The paperwork can wait, they know not to expect it on time from me anyway!"

Good Instructing there, Snow.

No really, he should sit down more often. This change in his height was super nice. Smiling, she leaned against him a little in response.

"Is this the same Instructor who's always making sure I'm to date or ahead on my schoolwork?"

She was teasing and it shows. She knew why her schoolwork was so important and it was for more reasons than because Lightning would have their heads if her grades slipped.

Obviously, she had no intention of going anywhere. Though the mewing, squirming thing in her pocket might have other ideas. What? She thought it'd be a good idea to get Nora out of the room for a little while, have a change of scenery. Was that so wrong?

"Hey, you're a student, I'm an Instructor. Different standards. Beside, Light would --"

He paused as something bumped against his side. "Hey, is that a kitten in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?"

"Kill us if my grades slipped? I know."

"Can't it be both?" She smiled, rescuing Nora from her pocket before placing the kitten on the table. Instantly the little ball of fluff started to explore, starting with staring at the big giant. Woah. "I named her Nora. Isn't she cute?"

Snow, being as gentle a giant as they came for the most part, carefully held out a hand for the kitten to sniff. Of course, her having a pet in total contradiction of Garden rules... didn't bother him one bit. "Very cute!"

After taking a few steps forward, sniff Nora did her nose twitching delicately before it became obvious that Snow had earned her approval. Either that or there was something tasty on his fingers anyway as she started licking away at one finger rather curiously.

Serah, for her part, was content to watch the meeting taking place. Though she did scoot over to lean against Snow a little bit after a moment with this rather sappy smile on her face. Maybe this was a completely different world, but she couldn't help feeling so happy and content right now. Maybe it was a bad thing to think, but she'd happily stay here for the rest of their lives by this point.

"I'm glad you like her."

His room would now be plus one adorable kitten after all, so it's a good thing they seemed to get along.

"Hope she gets a bit bigger as she grows, though," he said, moving to pet the kitten cautiously. He couldn't quite help but feel like he risked crushing her, just because of the size difference.

No-pet rules, who cared about those?

"I'm not sure. She might?" Serah leaned against the desk a little bit, quite content to watch man and kitten.

"I don't really know that much about cats, maybe I can find something out in the library." She laughed a little. "Guess for now you consider it practice for the future. Babies are tiny and fragile too after all."

Rules are meant to be ignored, just like his paperwork?

"Otherwise she's gonna get lost in my coat or a boot or something. You hear me? You grow up into a big cat, okay?"

Serah's words didn't provoke much of a reaction. After all, it was pretty much settled that the two of them would have probably a bunch of kids once they got married. Family was important, and the more the better, right?

"Don't worry Snow, even if she gets lost I bet she'll be just fine. Nora's really tough you know." She smiled, remembering a time that seemed like a lifetime ago. "Your coat or boots are no match for Nora!"

She hadn't expected it to garner a real reaction for that very reason. It was simply a statement of fact as far as she was concerned. Yes though, the more the merrier is certainly going to be a factor in the Villiers home. Lots of noise and lots of laughter, she was honestly looking forward to it.

That joke got a reaction, though, in the form of plenty of laughter. Can we assume the household will have at least a couple of cats, too, at this rate?

Laughter was good, with everything that tended to happen in their lives they needed to scoop up the laughter and happiness whenever they could. So of course she joined in, because she was happy too.

Oh certainly. Cats, dogs, chocobos, or whatever they'll probably end up with a regular zoo.
