PARTY LIKE A ROCK STAR
Character(s): ERRYBODY (who signed up! ...or who wants to come, just tag in guys s'all good)
Location: UP IN HERE (aka the beach in Galbadia)
Rating: THROUGH THE ROOF (G to R)
Open/Closed/Finished: OPEN LIKE A MINIBAR
Summary: BEACH PARTY
Three days of sun, sand, and complete, unbridled fun--that was what Kiden had advertised, and she'd delivered. The slice of bright blue beach Nida had found for them stretched on one side into cliffs and a cove on the other, sheltered enough to be easily defensible but open enough not to make them targets. If they felt like exploring, well, the wildlife wasn't too much of a hassle, and apparently the jungle is lovely?
They had tents, food and drinks (lots of drinks) and plenty of other interesting things to last for the next three days--and Kiden, for one, was planning to make the most of it.

We can probably let you try some of our food that doesn't have raw fish in it first.
[Yukio thinks about this for a moment. While it's true that Rin is easily the better cook of the two of them, he's not totally incapable.]
We could try making some sushi rolls.

[ They're at the tent, now, and she opens it up one-handed and starts feeling around inside— until she bumps against her bucket and pulls it out. ]
Here we go! [ Setting it down in the sand, she drops to her knees and starts unhooking the poor fish. ]
Say— what's... Sooshee?

Sushi is a type of food we have back home. There're different types--like the raw fish I was talking about earlier; we call that sashimi. We also have all kinds of rolls, which you can make with cooked meats.
[He pauses for a moment.]
Most of the rolls are made of rice and seaweed, and you have some stuff on the inside that makes them unique.

It does not sound appealing to her, at all. ]
I guess it doesn't sound too bad, if you cook everything first. But... [ She looks back down at the fish... And cringes. ]
no subject
You have to clean and prepare the fish before you eat it. Usually, you cut it into small pieces.
[Does that actually sound any better? Maybe not, but... It can't be worse than imagining eating a whole fish raw, right?]
But... We'll definitely start with the cooked stuff first and go from there for you. [A pause.] ...If you want to try it, of course.
no subject
[ It does sound a little better... But not much. There's really not much that could be worse than eating an entire fish without cooking it. ]
I want to try it! It doesn't sound all that bad.
no subject
[He nods his head and then grins, strangely excited about the thought of getting to make sushi for someone.]
We can figure out what sort of things you want inside your sushi, too, and make it more personalized.
no subject
Successfully unhooking the fish, she bends down to scoop up the bucket. ] Alright! One fish down, about, mmm... Three more to go.
no subject
[And with her next words, he tilts his head back toward the water.]
Back to the waterline then.

Yukio may not know it but he's about to get taught out to use a Binding Rod. She's decided! Fun-Having 101 is about to begin, yep! ]
no subject
[Ice cream flavors, for instance! But seeing as he's already grossed Vanille out once today, he'll... leave it at that and follow her back out to the water.
Is he ready to be taught how to use a bind rod? Well, he won't have long to wonder--not that he really expects it to begin with.]
no subject
Once they're there, she actually makes her way over to the nearby dock, reaching up to place the bucket there. She'll need both of her hands if she's to teach him, after all. ]
Okay! Are you ready for class, Mr. Oh-koo-moo-ra?
no subject
[Yukio jerks his gaze away from the water to stare at her blankly. For someone so bright, it does take him a while to understand that it's finally time for him to try fishing with her supped-up fishing rod.]
...Are you sure this is really a good idea?
[After all, he might just poke someone's eye out with this thing or just look like a total idiot handling it...]
no subject
[ How to stand, how to cast it... Things like that. She steps a little closer to him— in fact, extremely close, wrapping her arms around his middle and holding out the rod in front of him for him to grab hold of, pressing a cheek into his bicep. ]
First, just hold it in front of you... Like this, only, with your hands instead of mine!
no subject
He gulps but takes the rod with his own hands, taking almost too much care in trying to avoid her hands in the process. For the record, it doesn't work too well.]
...Like this?
no subject
And then push it down, like this... [ She lowers his arms, while also pushing against his back with her chest. ] And lean forward! So it'll toss it out further.
no subject
Getting this close to a girl isn't... normal, is it? He gulps and stares pointedly at the end of the rod, willing himself not to do anything stupid. A nervous laugh escapes his lips.]
...Well, that wasn't too hard.
no subject
That was great..! See, you're a pro already. [ Okay, not really, his form could use a little work, but, it could have been much much worse. ]
And now... We wait for another fish!
no subject
[Because if it doesn't, it's entirely possible Yukio may do something... silly. Or embarrassing. Possibly both! Really, the only good thing is that at this angle, it's a bit hard for Vanille to see the blush slowly but oh-so-surely creeping into his cheeks.
...Right?
He tries for some distracting conversation.]
So... How long have you been fishing this way?
no subject
Um... Kind of a long time. [ Check out my vague answer.
She does elaborate, though: ] It's not really supposed to be used like this, but... I sort of improvised. It's kind of like a regular fishing pole, right? But a regular fishing pole would be harder to fight with. When you need to find food, you just find a way!
[ Even if it means beating people up after they treated you to lunch (but called you barbarians mid-meal)... ]
