Better Lake Than Never

Summary: Pinkie Pie tells Champloo to come to her tent alone.

So they can go swimming. You perv.

With the feast ended and the leftovers given proper homes in various places, Champloo left Garden with a smile on his face and a spring on his step. His destination, swiftly arrived-at, was Pinkie Pie's tent. Why she had chosen to camp outside all break was beyond his knowledge, but it didn't bother him -- she would do as she wished, and if it made her happy, he could ask for nothing more.

"Pinkie!" he called out, as he approached.

"If the swimming is sour and the night weird-tasting, perhaps! But I find that neither is."

Wrong! EVERY food metaphor works if you extend it properly!

"I was not aware that you were well-acquainted with fear in any form, Pinkie!"

"Oooohhhhh. Okay, that works for me!"

Pinkie takes back her hand so she can hang her towel onto a tree branch. "Oh, I'm not always scared, but I'm not always brave, too! I can laugh at the face of scariness!" Once she finished, she turned back to him. "Unless it's a sleeping dragon hiding in a cave in the mountains with its pile of treasure. THEN I may be just a teeeeeeeeensy bit afraid."

"As this is a lake, I think we are safe."

He waded a foot or two in, then turned to face her, a hand held out to her.

Pinkie smiled and walked in as well, placing her hand into his. The water is not too cold, but it makes her shiver a little.

"This is probably the last time we can swim outside of the pool until the weather turns again," he said, slowly wading in deeper. "Therefore, let us make the most of it!"

Pinkie gasped because she had totally forgot about that.

"OMIGOSH YOU'RE RIGHT! There's so much to do after this!" Parties, holidays, classes! It was overwhelming, but Pinkie remembered to breathe and take Champloo's advice and make the most of it. She sighed as the water level rose the further she went into the lake. "You're right, Chammy! I'll be buried with...well...EVERYTHING when we get back!"

She let her free hand glide over the surface of the water idly, watching the ripples form from doing so.

"You have always had a full course set before you, Pinkie. Your energy is amazing!" If Champloo tried to juggle half the things she did, he expected he'd collapse within a couple of weeks. "But this dish does not mind, so long as you return to enjoy it occasionally."

That metaphor is easier to understand this time, which made Pinkie giggle before splashing Champloo with a bit of water. "Only as long as you remember that sweets are good for you!"

See? She could make metaphors, too! Right?!

"How could I forget that, when I have you?" How better to describe Pinkie, after all? He laughed, then ducked under the water entirely -- surfacing several feet away a few moments later to return the splash.

Just as Pinkie was going to retort, Champloo disappeared. Once she heard him reappear and splash her, Pinkie let out a squeal of laughter before initiating a splash fight.

"This means WATER WAR!" She had to start moving closer since she wasn't that strong to send water so far away.

"War, is it? Then taste this appetizer! Fire Chaos Style Water Strike!"

No, it didn't make any sense! But Champloo punched the water to send a wave curling at her!

Pinkie's eyes widened comically before she screeched and tried to run. It was in futility as the wave hits her. Despite being soaked, she laughed at the whole thing.

"Good thing I brought a towel with me!" She shook her hair a bit, which made it a bit more puffy than usual.

If Pinkie was not the sort to laugh, he wouldn't have done that. But she is, and Champloo laughed along with her. "You were already wet before I did that!"

"Yeah, but not to the bone!" Pinkie began walking towards Champloo, because she obviously lost that water war.

"And yet I have no fear that you will dry," he said, spreading his hands. He expected a trap, but had no qualms about allowing her to spring it!

"Hopefully not too dry!"

Pinkie tilted her head to the side, wondering what Chammy was waiting for. Once she got close enough she turned one of his hands upright and gave him a high five. That was what he wanted, right??

That worked! One could, after all, never quite predict with Pinkie. "I think you need not worry. Your skin will remain as smooth and flawless as perfectly-settled pudding!"

Pinkie looked down at her skin in awe, because wow, pudding skin!

Something caught her eye and she turned her left at the water. There's a light on the surface of the lake, making Pinkie look up at the sky. Oh, it's a full moon! So that explained not being entirely blind in the dark.

"....wwwwwoooowwwww..." Pinkie hurried over to Chammy and pointed up. "Look! Did you know it would be a full moon tonight?!"

He looked up along with her, his hand seeking out hers again almost unconsciously.

"I did not, Pinkie. That was mere fortunate luck! I would have gladly gone swimming in complete darkness with you!"

Well, at least she knew that it was his hand. Or she could assume. Who really knew in the dark. Speaking of which...

"But what if up became down? Or right is really left?!" The peril of swimming in the dark. "What if I wasn't here with you while you swam in the dark?! You could be lost...foreeeeeveeeerrrrrrr..."

Just thinking about such a prospect worried her, and so she squeezed his hand.

"Garden provides light enough to find it," Champloo said, gesturing to the school. "And besides, it is much more likely that I would only be lost till morning when the sun came up and I could see again! But whatever the case, I would not be lost forever, because that would make you sad, and I could not stand that."

"Thaaaaaaaaat's right!" Pinkie replied to...well, just about everything he said. It made sense. "And then I'd have no one to challenge to a bake off!"

"Would that stop you from doing so?" Champloo said, who was well aware that appreciating Pinkie also carried with it the duty of absorbing a lot of Pinkie's attention before it got turned on people who foolishly didn't appreciate her so much.

Pinkie tapped her chin thoughtfully.

"NOPE! It would just be really boring!" Because Chammy made everything great and fun!

"That it would be," he agreed. No one else in Garden shared his fierce passion for cooking in all its forms, after all. Perhaps that was a sad thing, but he had no intention of mourning it.

"Allow me to ask: If you weren't here, what would you be doing?"
