PARTY LIKE A ROCK STAR

Character(s): ERRYBODY (who signed up! ...or who wants to come, just tag in guys s'all good)

Location: UP IN HERE (aka the beach in Galbadia)

Rating: THROUGH THE ROOF (G to R)

Open/Closed/Finished: OPEN LIKE A MINIBAR

Summary: BEACH PARTY

Three days of sun, sand, and complete, unbridled fun--that was what Kiden had advertised, and she'd delivered. The slice of bright blue beach Nida had found for them stretched on one side into cliffs and a cove on the other, sheltered enough to be easily defensible but open enough not to make them targets. If they felt like exploring, well, the wildlife wasn't too much of a hassle, and apparently the jungle is lovely?

They had tents, food and drinks (lots of drinks) and plenty of other interesting things to last for the next three days--and Kiden, for one, was planning to make the most of it.

[SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY

SEE THE BRAWL TO END IT ALL

KNIGHT VS SEER

LIGHT VS LIGHT

TIME TO SEE WHO LOOKS LESS HORRIBLE IN THAT GARISH ORANGE PIECE OF SHIT

and whoa okay that is

even more surprising than her returning this at all but you will not win so easily however the hell a winner would be decided.
]

[identity profile] bookshrew.livejournal.com 2011-09-11 04:32 pm (UTC)(link)
[spoiler: there are no winners in the Fight of the Century because everyone looks like a traffic cone in that shade.

there was this brief moment where she actually thought about shoving him off, but then her mind clicked on and said no don't you fucking dare this isn't romance this is another competition get your ass in gear and the rest was history.

and by history what is obviously meant is that she's casting her vote in how a winner will be chosen in the direction of it defaulting to her. always.]

[personal profile] tortileghostwriter 2011-09-11 04:47 pm (UTC)(link)
[that's because orange is a terrible color.

oh yes this is obviously the most entirely platonic of competitions as entirely platonic as the rest of their innumerable stupid competitions

and okay fine just don't expect him to not fight you on that or possibly launch a sudden death round afterwards.
]

[identity profile] bookshrew.livejournal.com 2011-09-11 04:58 pm (UTC)(link)
[hey orange is one of my favorite colors you take that back.

are you kidding me this is practically clinical, there's nothing here but the passion of kicking someone else's ass.

haha yeah sure. good luck with doing that while dealing with your roommate, Dave.]

[personal profile] tortileghostwriter 2011-09-12 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
[okay fine that shade of orange is a terrible color then.

totally clinical. that hand on your back? clearly just to add stability to this most double-blind of studies. that is also a totally mature competition for some reason.

yes he still needs to find a way to get back at you for that
]

[identity profile] bookshrew.livejournal.com 2011-09-12 12:20 am (UTC)(link)
[yeah I can live with that, it's pretty hideous.

absolutely. if she's gripping your shoulder it's because she doesn't want to lose her balance and nothing else. and hey, even scientists can compete.

search all you want but there is no way. it was the perfect crime.]

[personal profile] tortileghostwriter 2011-09-12 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
[precisely.

it's a very willfully stupid kind of insistence. yeah let's go with that.

and please he knows it was you. who else could it have been.
]

[identity profile] bookshrew.livejournal.com 2011-09-12 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
[when you're coated in more sand than a clam that's really the only thing you can fall back on.

excuse me but it's not rocket science to turn on the color function. that could have been anyone.]

[personal profile] tortileghostwriter 2011-09-12 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
[i think the sand is the least of her troubles.

you are completely transparent and you will rue the day you did that.
]

[identity profile] bookshrew.livejournal.com 2011-09-12 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
[there is nothing more troublesome than being in a wet bathing suit and covered in sand. nothing.

hahahah yeah right. she's going to do it again and you can't stop her.]

[personal profile] tortileghostwriter 2011-09-12 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
[not even the willful stupidity re: this entire situation?

we'll just see about that.
]

[identity profile] bookshrew.livejournal.com 2011-09-12 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
[not even that. she can ignore that. the sand is more persistant.

yeah ok sure.]

[personal profile] tortileghostwriter 2011-09-12 01:21 am (UTC)(link)
[sand is a douche like that.

and BECAUSE AIR IS A THING THAT IS IMPORTANT he finally breaks that most passive-aggressive of hermetic seals.
]

[identity profile] bookshrew.livejournal.com 2011-09-12 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
[sand is God Tier douche

OH SWEET THIS IS HER VICTORY THEN she rolls a little away from him and brings a hand up to swipe at her bleeding lip. however, she's feeling all in all pretty good about this encounter.]

That would be my point, then.

[personal profile] tortileghostwriter 2011-09-12 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
[basically

YEAH YEAH GET IT OUT OF YOUR SYSTEM he just. glowers a little. clearly this is your fault. it takes him a second to make the connection for what she's saying, between the alcohol and the fact the competition...wasn't his original intent.
]

Enjoy it while you can.

[identity profile] bookshrew.livejournal.com 2011-09-12 01:33 am (UTC)(link)
[CANNOT FIGHT THIS FEEEEELING, THIS FEELING OF WINNING. don't ever tell her that this wasn't supposed to be a competition, that is a frightening thought that shouldn't ever exist.

she grins at him, and the smile is markedly less facetious than usual. it's likely the adrenaline, but she doesn't even notice.]

I think that I'll have all the time in the world to savor it.

[personal profile] tortileghostwriter 2011-09-12 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
[yeah he. probably won't. it's frightening him enough as it is.

granted he doesn't actually have much issue with the fact he's attracted. given that he is totally almost preternaturally attractive(David Briar Lalonde: massive fucking narcissist since 1995) and she basically just looks how he would as a girl. and she's a sharp one to boot. just.

EVERYTHING IS COMPLICATED

and. huh. that's actually kind of nice to see and he wouldn't mind seeing that again possibly at some poi--okay seriously time to stop thinking about this for now. bad alcohol. bad.
]

Until the tide is so sharply turned against you in the second round, of course.

[identity profile] bookshrew.livejournal.com 2011-09-12 02:01 am (UTC)(link)
[this is why Rose brought her own water: it's so much easier to smother alien feelings when you have all your faculties.]

I can ride the waves well enough that I have no fear of retribution. The only reason I'll stop after the next tussle is because I'll have a new victory to enjoy.

[personal profile] tortileghostwriter 2011-09-12 02:19 am (UTC)(link)
[yeah, well. Strider was sent back. that calls for alcohol in his case. it was a conscious move, though likely an ill-advised one in hindsight.]

Well, if you're going to talk the talk, you've got to back it all up. Care to walk the walk?

[dear god he's spouting twisted and re-spun Poe lyrics. but what he means to say is COME AT ME BRO.]

[identity profile] bookshrew.livejournal.com 2011-09-12 02:20 am (UTC)(link)
I would, but I'm not sure you could hobble after me. [hahaha bring it you booze-addled boy. Rose is not afraid.]

[personal profile] tortileghostwriter 2011-09-12 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
['kay fine have it your way.]

[identity profile] bookshrew.livejournal.com 2011-09-12 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
[ok so, somewhere in the tiny corner Rose reserves for being honest with herself she's admitting that when she goaded him for a second round she didn't expect that to be more kissing. in the real world, though? the pause between contact and her reaction isn't because she was startled, it was because she was planning her next brilliant move.

that is her story and she's sticking to it. fight her.]

[personal profile] tortileghostwriter 2011-09-14 09:22 pm (UTC)(link)
[sure okay. and what would that next brilliant move be?

also he intends to.
]

[identity profile] bookshrew.livejournal.com 2011-09-14 09:26 pm (UTC)(link)
[she supposes...kissing back is an ok thing to do. not because she wants to, or is enjoying it, or anything silly like that. it's because he started it and it's her job as a lady to finish it.

you will not rip this fragile and hastily constructed alibi away from her so help her god]

[personal profile] tortileghostwriter 2011-09-14 09:38 pm (UTC)(link)
[....okay fine let's roll with that sure why not.

and what would you do about it if he did
